I'll take Brainerd to win AA and Rochester Lourdes to win A.

I'd be surprised if Fargo South wins any game.

Wow did the recruits look good taking it to DC yesterday 6-1!

The JM/Century/Winona line had all 6 goals!!! Woo hoo! I'm sure that 'Head Coach' JS was really proud!!

haha. are you upset because public school hockey in Rochester is worse then ever? Or are you still flustered about the pounding Lourdes gave Mayo in 2003. Those JM/Century kids came off the same bantam team and wanted to continue to play with each other rather then split up. I understand they didn't grow up in the private schools in Rochester, but really? Maybe the public schools should schedule Lourdes during the season, and if they were to beat Lourdes, you have an argument.

2003? What does that have to do with what I said?
You are right. The JM kid that transferred 1/2 through 9th grade and had to sit out a year must have been thinking about playing with his Winona bantam buddy Funk right? I'm sure the Samuelson kid was thinking that all along when his bantam coach - now a Lourdes asst coach - told him what he should do!

Well the MO for beating Lourdes is just be physical and don't give them any space to work with - they simply do not like being hit and they will take stupid penalties once the frustration sets in

EC 2 Lourdes 0

That's a pretty darn good Memorial team, allowing 0 goals through 2 games is spectacular, they're #1 in Wisconsin for a reason.

The MO for beating ANY Rochester team is make them pass the puck because they either can't or won't, it's the same thing - try and beat the opponent 1 on 1 The Old Abes just played sound defensive hockey; took the body, backchecked, and forced Lourdes wide.

A very good team Goldy. Memorial has some nice creative forwards, some sound D, and a very good goalie.

I agree, Roch kids are soft and RYHA's 'development' is poor for all the youth players.
I just think so many people fear Lourdes and their speed. The defining moment is when the Sr. Captain D-man for Lourdes got pancaked late in the 2nd, stick flying, tail between his legs back to the bench.

You must be talking the cheap shot he took (cross check to the head). Lourdes lost 2 kids to concussions. Eau Claire did do a great job of slowing Lourdes down forechecked very hard and did not give them any space.

SEMnHockeyNut: A known fact LHS recruits players for hockey. 8th Grader is further evidence of interference (recruiting) by the coaching staff.

But Mayo's situation is similar. 3 Austin kids driving to Rochester every day and 1 Swede have all of the goals for Mayo, minus 1 or 2?

Lourdes would be awful without the non-Catholic kids jumping from their neighborhood public school. Buy I gotta say the Austin situation is laughable!

That being said, it is the parents making these decisions. And looking at the parents involved, non are more whacked out than those Austin Dad's! Poor kids!

BadgerBob-

And Shattucks U16 team's second leading scorer got "recruited" from Lourdes---

Otherwise Lourdes would certainly be even better

It is true 1 line from LHS are public school transfers--the rest of the bunch are catholic school kids for the most part right on up---they would probably be not ranked in top 5 but top 15 for sure with them alone

Not sure which 8th grader you are speaking of other than the one whose brother is already attending LHS

Also-what about some of the public school kids who were recruited out of catholic school system---how come you dont mention those?

Steer this back to discussion of the tournament, not recruiting. Leave those chips on the shoulders at the door.

On the AA side it was pretty weak, watching the Archibald kid from Brainerd was a treat though.

In A New Ulm wins it 2-0 over Memorial, NU matched Memorial physically and outplayed the Old Abes for 2 periods then Bergau came up huge in the 3rd to hold on to the win. In the first two periods the Memorial goalie had some huge saves to keep it 1-0. Late in the game, under 2 minutes left, Memorial was down 1-0 and a pretty weak call put them down a man then they took an unsportsmanlike giving New Ulm a 5 on 3, Memorial pulls their goalie and has their best scoring chance of the night but Bergau covered it.

Quote from the Post Bulletin that bugs me......"I didn't think we played a bad game," Lourdes coach Josh Spaniol said. "We didn't get some bounces and didn't get some calls from the refs. Our effort was good. It was a good crowd. Maybe the guys were a little nervous, but you still have to play the game."

Nice, give zero credit to the opponent and blame the refs. This is high school, way to set an example coach.

Wow, nice win for New Ulm down in Rochester. The arrogance of the Lourdes staff and players will catch up with the team at some point this year. The last few years it has really escallated for some reason, it usually subsides early on in the State tourney. Having home ice throughout sections right thru the finals punches the ticket but the excel center is neautral ice and not only section 1 teams. Congrats to Brainerd on their win as well.

badgerbob you really have issues. I remember earlier this year you posted something in regards to the parents of these austin kids. You wouldn't be from austin would you. This is laughable in itself. If you read all these other posts there are kids moving everywhere not just here but up in the metro as well. It is what it is man get over it and move on. Mabye Austin should evaluate there youth program as well as there high school program in order to keep kids in there respective programs. Personally I wouldn't want to go to austin and play in that program either. And it appears that these austin kids can play at a pretty good level and are doing well over there. Let's stay on the good topics of hockey.
