MN Made AAA tryouts

Post by StillAnEagle »

Does anyone know when the MN Made AAA tryouts are for the 2011 season? I'm assuming they're sometime in Sept but I don't see anything on their website.

for the tops teams they are over with, unless your player is a 2002 then a good check and decent player will gain you a spot on the top team. For the secondary teams ( the loan coverage ) their tryout maybe a little more stretched out, call them.

Aren't most of them harvested from the choice league? The younger ones I mean.

Tryouts for the lower teams (Force, Snipers) were held on MEA weekend in past years.

That does nothing but show what scum bernie is... He can't sell ice over MEA so he reserves it for tryouts for his AAA teams. It's not just this, he has continually reserved certain tryouts, practices, and tournaments for times that he is unable to sell ice, times like school breaks and the beginning of summer. When kids should be outside spending time with family and friends, and relaxing. MM is such a joke.

Uncalled for. Can't I just as easily counter that he's considerate by holding these events at a time when we know it won't conflict with other activities?

Our guy down here holds his on New Year's Day. He knows everyone is available and says the only people that object are the drinkers. He doesn't want those parents anyway.

Now that's uncalled for! What's wrong with the drinkers? Some of the best stories and memories from chasing my kids around this state, all in the name of youth hockey, have come from off the ice.

And for the record, I would not object to a New Year's Day practice...as long as it's after 3pm.

So it's about the parents and not the kids?

On New Years day, yep its about the parents unless the kids are old enough to drive themselves to the tryouts.......!!

Hey, from the time kids make it through from Mites to Bantams they will put a LOT of miles on the cars. Numerous hotels, road trips, practices somewhere between 6am to 10pm, all will occur. Its not mandatory, but having a couple of parents or two to hang out with, along with the kids, is worth its weight in gold!!! Finding those adults who like to have a beverage or two really goes a long way to team build.......seriously. You learn more about a persons loyalty, commitment, drive, compassion, etc in a beverage establishment than almost anywhere else. Plus if you are at a smaller venue, a GREAT way to get to know the hockey fans in that particular part of the state......There are some fantastic hockey people no matter where you go.........ya just got to find them........and believe it or not, the local watering hole is a place where you can obtain a true flavor of the people......!!!

Yeah, I think it is obvious that taking summer teams out-of-state is about the parents more than the kids.

No, there's no aversion to a person that has a drink. But who sees a tryout/eval on January 1st (it was just after lunchtime) and says, "no way! I'm not driving two or three hours to do that!"?

The inverse is that those who do show up are pretty interested in being a part of the team.

It's interesting how negative posts about Bernie Mcbain and MN Made are not removed from the different threads. People are calling him "scum" and another thread had "enima" and they remain up. Yesterday I saw a positive thread about Bernie Mcbain and its gone today. MN Made is an awsome training facility for young kids and Bernie and his son Jamie are great roll models for the sport. With regard to the tryouts, most of them are still coming up. The AAA season just ended last weekend so the tryouts start next weekend. It's true that many of the AAA kids come out the Choice league because the MN Made coaches see those kids all winter. I would go and tryout.

When I was growing up we didn't have AAA teams but our association traveling tryouts were always on MEA weekend. It used to piss off my mom because we could never go on a trip during that weekend. But the reality is that they tryouts were not over that weekend to piss my mom off, they were over that weekend because it made logistical sense. In fact for the last 3 years we could do anythign on MEA weekend because my son had his Association MITE evals that weekend.

I would image that the MM AAA tryouts as well as the numerous other AAA tryouts that occur that weekend are for the same logistical purposes.

If the AAA program owns the arena or not, they same logistical issues are going to exists.
