Lakeville Junior Gold A
8 senior forwards 1 Junior forward
3 senior defense 3 junior defense
9 players from north 6 players from south
Lakevilles team has less top end talent on the team compared to last year but will be alot deeper!
No superstars but loaded with hard workers.... should be a solid team but im not going to throw out any projections until i see other teams and see how we progress.
BB hows the tonka team this year looking to keep a great rivalry going and others lets us know about your squads

Wayzata Jgb
Wayzata JGB
2 teams, one less from last year because they added another u16 team. mostly juniors and seniors, about 4 sophomores on the 2 teams combined.

Warriors
Tonka Warriors only return 1 player from last year's senior loaded team.
Goaltending will be solid with a senior off last year's Tonka JV and a junior off of last year's U-16 champs.
Skaters will be a mix of varsity cuts (about 6 to 7 seniors), JGB and U-16 players.
As of now, I see the team in the running for a top 8 finish in the Metro League after teams such as Edina, Wayzata, Burnsville, WBL and Lakeville.
Tournaments the Warriors will play in this season are:
Spirit of Duluth (Dec 10-12) - the Warriors will look for a rare three-peat as the two-time defending champs of this season opening JGA event.
Minnetonka (Dec 17-19) - the Warriors will try to advance out of the quarterfinals for the first time in 3 seasons. This is an outstanding tournament field with Edina, Wayzata. Eden Prairie, White Bear and Tonka entered. Also expect Lakeville and OMG along with a possible canadian team to round out the field.
Edina (Jan 14 - 16) - Warriors have gone 6-1 in the past two Reimann's winning it all in 2009 over Edina.
Duluth JGA (Feb 4-6)- Warriors will look to defend their 2010 title in their final tournament before JGA playoffs.
Notes: Over the past 2 seasons, the Warriors have gone 15-0-3 in Duluth winning the Spirit twice and the Duluth JGA once (2010). In 2009, the Warriors took third place with a 4-0-1 record in the Duluth JGA event.
Finished #3 in 2009 and #4 in 2010 in the Metro League with a 4th place finish at State in 2009.

That's what I like to see... the forum conversations finally kicking off. Thanks for the info guys.
BB I would still put tonka above us as of right now until we prove otherwise but if at all like last year both teams should be able compete in all games they play, and have a shot to be there at the end.
One thing I failed to mention earlier that is good for the lakeville team is that we are returning three defensmen, and 2 forwards. So we have a decent amount of experience at the JGA level.
The other 10 players were all Varsity cuts.

JGA
I would give the experience edge to LV right now.
6 returnees + 10 varsity cuts for lakeville vs. 1 returnee and about 7 varsity cuts for tonka. My preseason top 10:
1) Edina - 2 time defending state champs
2) Wayzata
3) Burnsville
4) Eden Prairie
5) Lakeville
6) Duluth
7) Tonka
White Bear Lake
9) Centennial
10) Wessy Boy's

Blaine will be holding try-outs starting this upcoming week. I am no longer part of this team but the rumor is that they are hurting for players. 3 seniors have decided not to come back to play and depending on who decides to come from the high school cuts will be the deciding factor. I know they have at least 1 senior and 1 goalie. We shall see how they do this upcoming year

WBL
WBL is usually ranked high to start the season. Last year they were #4 to start in the Spirit of Duluth tourney.
WBL JGB Orange was #2 and Black was #8 in the east last season. Usually means they will be okay at JGA.

Burnsville is heading up to Grand Rapids this weekend for 2 games, both against Rapids. Should be an interesting year for for Burnsville. They have a mix of returners, Varsity cuts, Jr. Gold B/U16 players from last year. Should be strong in net with speedy forwards. Excited to see what we've got.
Bragen, we open our league schedule against you guys..............at Shattuck on Dec. 8th. See you then!

Blacktapeguy:
There is only 1 possible tonka player on your team; otherwise I'm calling your bluff.
So, did he play for tonka JGA last year or not?
My realiable sources indicate a very down year for the ice doggies...

LaceEm nice to see you back for another year!! It should be an awesome game minus the fact we both have to drive to shattuck to play against a team that lives less that 5 minutes away! (but thats Lakeville hockey for ya) ....excited to check you guys out early in the season after that beating you gave us in state!!

Burnsville is back from the annual trip up to Grand Rapids. We played 2 games.
Sat: Burnsville 4 Grand Rapids 3. Burnsville jumped out to a 3-0 lead and then took some pretty bad penalties. Rapids tied it at 3 in the 2nd period. Burnsville scored in the 3rd period to get the victory.
Sun: Burnsville 8 Grand Rapids 1. Not much of a game in this one. Shots were about 50-8.
We've got some work to do, but all in all a pretty good weekend. Looking forward to the regular season games starting this week. Good luck all!

Re: JGA
I have to disagree with EP being that high, and Wessy's even being on there. SLP tied Burnsville last night so they may be someone to look out for but we'll see as the season goes on. May I ask why you have EP so high up? They didn't do much in the playoffs last year and were upset in the regular season also. And Wessy's also didn't do anything in the playoffs last year, they lost first round and lost a lot during the season.blueblood wrote:I would give the experience edge to LV right now.

barstool, my retort is as follows:
EP didn't do anything in the playoffs? They went to state fool last year fool. Where have you been? Get your facts straight b4 you start flapping your gums.
Wessy's had only 3 or 4 seniors last year and several sophomores, so they return an experienced team.
Also, my postings were before league games and tournaments started so now you are coming after me? Where were you when I posted my pre-season top ten.
I stand by my picks and I'm as connected as anyone to the JGA scene. Just ask my co-horts lace'em and braggen.
I will post a new top ten following the Spirit of Duluth tourney.

Blueblood knows more about Junior gold hockey than all of us combined. He has been around it for years and is about as good as they come at ranking and making projections....
We have to remember he didnt know any teams in the PRESEASON.
Blue im excited to see your next rankings and don't be hesitant to move us WAY down after our pour showing against tonka. We are going to have to earn respect back from everyone!
