Non Conference schedules

Post by shotpassskate »

I just took a look at Holy Angels non conference schedule. We know the conference is weak, but can anyone say their non conference schedule is weak?
Roseau - up there
Elk River
Burnsville- Schwans Cup Silver
2 other Schwans Cup Games
Edina
Tonka
Hill-Murray
Eden Prairie
Benilde
Shattuck
Plus 2 more games.

I think this makes up for a weaker conference, but you could be looking at a 500 or even below 500 team come playoffs. Does any other team in the state have a tough non conference like this?

I don't see Holy Angels winning any of those games. 0-12 non-conference.

Yes. Look at EP, Edina, and Minnetonka

Even with their new conference ignored, EP might play the hardest non-conference schedule, since they've kept most of the good teams in the former Lake/current South Suburban and have a couple of other good teams.

The Holy Angels nonconference schedule is indeed difficult, which they more or less have to do to make up for the Missota. It could certainly be a problem in what looks to be a down year, but I do think they can win a game or two in the Silver bracket of the Schwan Cup, and maybe one or two others (ie. Elk River, maybe Roseau).

For a team that has to do a lot of travel, Moorhead always puts together a very good nonconference schedule. Roseau did a nice job of beefing up theirs this year...it's still far from one of the hardest, but considering where they have been, it's a step in the right direction.

For the most part, the teams with the hardest nonconference schedules are also the best teams, which is good for both the players and the fans.

Yo Blueblood,

My point being EP has one of the toughest conference schedules (conference really means nothing), and also one of the toughest non-conference schedules. Having a conference with 5 teams is a joke. Don't care how good that conference is. Just beat the good teams and you will be fine.

Freddy, what do you think will happen if Kyle Rau gets hurt?

That's a funny question. What would happen if any good high school player would get hurt?

Injuroes

All teams typically will have injuries to deal with. If Rau gets hurt other kids will need to step up, just like when Gardiner was out last year at Tonka for 8 or so games.

Has Rau ever gotten hurt in two full seasons of varsity action? No. What makes you think he will now?
EP two out of three.

Rau

1) I never said he would get hurt
2) I said "IF" he gets hurt
3) Just because he hasn't been hurt in the past, doesn't mean the kid is invincible.
4) My point was, all teams deal with injuries in all sports.

I'm pretty confident that someone on EP will miss a game or two this year due to bumps, bruises, aches and/or pains.

Probably, but statistically it probably won't be kyle rau, and there's really no need to speculate on a high school kid getting hurt just because you realize EP's gonna be tough for your team to beat if he's there.

Blueblood didn't start this. He simply made a valid point in response to my post. I was only trying to draw Freddy out with a little bait but he didn't recognize it.

Umm...not even close. They have St. Cloud Tech, Marshall, MG, Osseo, Century, Stillwater. Of "elite" teams, this isn't even a tough nc schedule.

EP has
Duluth E
HM
Holy Angels
Bville
Elk River
Jefferson
Grand Rapids
Eagan
Hermantown
AV
SLP tourny
Lville N/S

The only weaker teams on there are North and maybe Grand Rapids. Already this one is way tougher than Benilde and I don't even know what Edina, Tonka, Wayzata, HM, etc. look like.
EP two out of three.
