Caribou
Don't discount the Renegades in the U12 Elites- some of the best talent in the Midwest is playing on that team...

Ouch. 0-2 and outscored 14-3. Haven't seen the Renegades yet, but they haven't even faced what appear to be the top two, Ice Cougar Major and OS Selects, yet. Ice Cats are also very strong. Would have been nice to see the Junior Badgers and maybe STE in the Elite bracket. Should be a fun weekend of hockey.

Best Talent in the Midwest.......(CRICKETS)..... Really! Um, Renegades 0 and 4 and I think it is going to be 98 Ice Cats and OS. The Ice Cougars Major have no scorers, just goalies. And why is no one realizing the Wisconsin Jr. Badgers Major is wiping the floor with the competition at the 12U AAA Division.
Hey misterclean, nice first post by the way.

No. They signed up and were told that the talent was going to be deep, after seeing the pools and who was there, they tried to get moved up to the 14U division and were unable to be moved. Also, why was the Renegades team allowed in the elite division. STE White or Red would have been more suited for that pool than the Renegades. The Champs at 12U Elite were the OS Selects with a 6-2 victory over the Ice Cats. Funny how no one thought they would win. We all know what happened with the Jr. Badgers Major. 5-0 over STE White to win the AAA Ship. At the 14U AAA we have the Jr. Northstars pounding the Mischief 6-1, 14U Elite the mighty 97 Icecats lose to the 14U Bauer Vapor in OT. At the 10U Division, Skate to Excellence squad finally finds a challenge in the 10U Ice Cougars and loses 4-3 in OT as well.HockeyDad2016 wrote:Looks like the WI Jr Badgers should have been in the 12U Elite. guess the just wanted to prove they could beat weaker teams.
Caribou Cup U12
The U12 Division would have been better suited to switch Rebok and Renegades from Elite for Jr. Badgers and STE W. Rebok is a nice team but not as deep as OS, Cougar Majors and Ice Cats and would have been in more games in the AAA. The Renegades must have been either delirious or misinformed about their place in the Elite Division. They got smoked by everyone. Their goalie must still be having nightmares and she did a great job and took a pounding-nice job goalie (now if she can just get her Dad away from behind the net and stop yelling to/at her, grow up Dad and let her play, she will do better without you standing there)!

Renegades first time in a Minnesota girls tourney. We didn't know they accepted 97s. Considering that they played fantastic. As far as the goalie, she did a great job. She took loads of shots. I stood by her Dad- he was cheering. I didn't hear any coaching going on. He's loud, but that's ok, isnt it? You all should be proud. Girls hockey is strong in Minnesota.
The Tourney organizer should not have placed any new teams, without a track record, in the Elite pool. So, he get the first diss.
The second diss goes to the Renegade manager for not knowing the level of girls competition. That one seems wierd as he/she has a better idea of the overall team skill than the tourney organizer. Most parents have watched a lot of girls hockey and should know where their own daughters stand. For the level deal to work everyone needs to be honest and have realistic expectations. Win a few open level tourneys and then move up. Another philosophy with girls is to play open the first year and invite the second. That's changing now as single birth year girls teams are being formed in the metro.

The Jr Badgers were supposed to be in the gold medal classic but got asked not to play in that "ELITE" tournament for being just that. They switched to the Caribou and got assigned to the "AAA" bracket and asked to be moved up to the "ELITE" side. The tournament coordinator supposedly asked the 5 coaches to let them play there (guess what-they didnt want the stronger team in with them). So if you are a good team where should you expect to get games if teams don't want to play you because they might lose?HockeyDad2016 wrote:Looks like the WI Jr Badgers should have been in the 12U Elite. guess the just wanted to prove they could beat weaker teams.
One person mentioned no one predicted the O's. Not true. No one predicted the O's on this site. The ones in the know all knew the O's were the favorite. Had the Badgers played Elite, they'd have been the favorite.redlightclub wrote:The Jr Badgers were supposed to be in the gold medal classic but got asked not to play in that "ELITE" tournament for being just that. No gotcha cut, although I would agree goalie dad looks like mr. clean. I'm much shorter and better looking. My moniker comes from my work, not my looks. As far as not knowing, it was a mistake on our organizations part. That was the first time most of our girls had met. The first time they played together. the first time for many of us to Minnesota. We had a great time, our girls had a great time. We'll bring a team back again next year, then we'll chat some more. BTW- I like this venue. Fun and informative.
