Wow. Five Bemidji Lumberjacks chosen for the North team. Is this good news for us Bemidji fans?

Also, how is it that Edina students get chosen for the Metro SW and SE squads?

Here is the complete list sorted by school. NOTE: Numerous schools have some players on one team and others on a different team. I believe that the metro area coaches were given an option of taking players from other regions if that regions coach did not take the player. That way you get the best players available rather than being forced to pick only from your area.

Well, $$$$ certainly talks to me! The conversation usually goes like this:
Me: "Is there enough of you ($$$) to buy that 2010 Candy Apple Red Ferrari?"
$$$: "No. Take a look at the 1986 rusted-out Ford Falcon instead."

Well Bemidji isn't the only squad with 5 or 6 players chosen. But it does seem to bode well for the coaches of such squads. Their players get extra games and practice, AND they avoid the potential injuries from that strangest of American sports, gridiron.

About 10 sophomores in the HS Elite.

I don't think anyone from the 95 Blades chose to participate in this league.

It has to be hard for the Northern players...No one from Duluth East or Roseau?

The Blades have teams, at Midget Minor (U16) and Midget Major (U18) in the NAHL Future Prospects Tournament, September 16-19, at the Super Rink. The Elite League, and Elite D, will also have teams in that Tournament so that would have made for some conflicts.

I believe last year was the first year of this tournament, but it was really fun to attend. Great young players with lots of scouts in the building.

It appears the south team has some seniors, I didn't think that was allowed this year.

The South area, aside from Lakeville, sections 1AA, 1A, and 3A didn't get anyone in the Elite League. I'd bet that's why they allowed a couple of seniors in this league.

On the Elite D website it says that:

Participation in the league by Seniors will be very limited.

Players who tried out for the Elite league and did not make a team were eligible to be on a team in the Elite D league. I think that a senior had to tryout for the Elite league and if they didn't make it, they could get a spot in the Elite D league...otherwise seniors were not allowed to tryout for Elite D.

A lot of the top 94's and 95's are playing for the Blades this fall, called project prep. Former players from last year include Besse, Horton, and Skjei.

This was not an open tryout--players also had to be recommended by the high school coach to receive a tryout invitation. Most '95s were Bantams this past season if I'm not mistaken, so I'm not sure a high school coach would recommend many that age.

Every 95 that made the Select 15 National team received an invitation to tryout...and even a few that made the 102 Festival.

Reno and Fasching from the Select 15 team are playing in the HS Elite League. Also, that Select team was heavily loaded with Blades players who will be playing in the Future Prospect tournament in Blaine this September.

Well minus Reno and Fasching that got the green light into the Elite League...

The Blades are sending there Project Prep team to play in the U16 Future Prospect Tournament in Blaine this upcoming fall.

How do you get a tryout for the "Project Prep" team ? I know last year the people at fhit had a team at the future prospects tourney that wore a Blades jersey but they were fhit guys not blades. Is this years team going to be actual blade players or is it fhit again?

You don't. The Blades U16 Project Prep team is all 94 Blades and are now listed on the Blades site. Don't know about U18 or Bantam levels.

http://www.minnesotablades.com

Not combined with FHIT players this year.

All Elite 1 Players that got invites and or are on the team had to have played High School hockey last year. Whether they made the ADV 15 festival or not- they had to have a year of HS under their belt. Prep League did not have this stipulation.
