I hate to break it to you but....

this is clearly a P.R. piece written by someone involved with the Blades and Let's Play Hockey was happy to print it to fill space. I'm not knocking the Blades for promoting themselves (I have a nephew that's a Blade) but, I'm just sayin' . . . .

A few years ago when the 88s were drafted, there was a major piece done in LPH on how they developed. In it, BM said he recruited the best athletes he could find. I don't think LPH would do anything to kill that revenue stream.

I find promo pieces for any AAA program funny. The reason I find them funny is becasue they love to take "credit" for any player that plyed even a single solitary tournament with their program. Take this one for instance, they prominently display Phil Kessel's name several times. I guess the fact that Phill grew up in Verona, WI (suburb of Madison) and grew up playing with the Madison Capitols Tier 1 year round AAA team had nothing to do with his development. Or when he went to the USNDTP while still in high school. Yes he played with the Blades in some tournaments but that was it, he was a hired gun so to speak, he never was part of their practice or developmetn squads on a regular basis or anything. Too funny. Don't get me wrong, this happens in ALL AAA programs, NONE are above it, this as jsut an example from that link. Again I think it's funny but also illustrates "buyer beware" when it comes to what they are promoting

I agree...clearly a promo piece.

However, I did find it a little unusual that they referred to the 88's that broke off for a different organization as Tom Carman's Minnesota 88's and not Bernie's 88's. If you walk into MM and look up, the shrine isn't to Tom Carman's 88's.

Here's another name you can add to that list and if I am correct he plays for the Madison Capitals also and is only used in designated tournaments...Will Butcher '95 player look for the Blades to take credit for his talent. He was taken early in the draft this year

Petty stuff people. I guess SSM should disassociate themselves from Crosby and Toews et all since they only played one year there. They obviously had a majority of their development elsewhere, but they are still alumni.

Get over it. A lot of quality programs out there and bickering in the minutia is stupid. Move on.

Agreed. Doug Johnson will do anything for money.

I think playing a full season for a program and playing a single tournament (or two) in the spring are HUGELY different. It's not petty pointing it out, and no one was bickering (well maybe you), as was stated all are guilty of it. Sounds like someone is a bit sensitive.
