Re: Meltdown (Open) Scores...
Why narrow it to just 1998 Open? Let's see the scores at ALL age levels.Snowmass wrote:Please post any Meltdown (1998 open) scores here. Tournament runs April 22nd-25th. Thx

So, 98 Breakaway is an open level organization now?
Or, Showcase didn't have enough teams for the 98 open level so they invited Breakaway to fill out the bracket?
If that's the case Breakaway shouldn't be inviting players from other organizations, invite organizations at that, to fill out their open level roster. Have the kids invite a few friends that have never played in a AAA tourney before. Give a deserving open level player an opportunity instead of messing up the 98 tournament for other teams that registered, and paid, for the appropriate level. Kind of embarrassing that Breakaway didn't know better. Poor reflection on Breakaway management and 98 Breakaway leadership. Do they even have a 98 team? If so, wouldn't they have enough players? Also, Showcase knows better too but they rely on the person registering the team to be honest about the team they plan to bring.

Looking at the Breakaway website it look like they have 2 98 teams one being labeled as gophers, perhaps it is an open team. Not sure how this works but there are 2 open level brackets this weekend, the Whales and Campbell that dont play each other and each declares a winner. Perhaps 1 is lower level and the other upper level open teams ? 98 Breakaway is in the Whales.observer wrote:So, 98 Breakaway is an open level organization now?

But you are correct about teams "loading" up with invites players in the Meltdown. That's happen previously and there are discussions on this bored

which 98 breakaway team, the one labeled Gophers or the other? not sure what your referring to.hockeyqueen89 wrote:If you compare the 98 Breakaway team with the roster in the meltdown program, the names are all the same. lets not jump to conclusions here when all that someone said was that they heard something. the kids all had their names on the jerseys. i doubt this occured.

98 Breakaway Gophers
I know this team was in Showcase the last couple seasons as the Jr Gophers. They have played each season in the Meltdown tourney open level. Looking at last seasons roster, they have almost all the same kids. I do know Breakaway has two 98 teams. One calls themselves the 98 Invite team and the other is the Gophers and an open level team. The "invite" team played in the Warrior cup last weekend.
But based on one lopsided game, how do we know that this Gopher team is "that" good, or if the Easton team wasnt on that level?
