Not a tourney, more like controlled scrimages. The scores posted were after two 24 minute running time halves. Then the scoreboard was cleared and each team had a five minute power play and then a 5 minute penalty kill. The final thing was a 5 man shootout. The purpose of the festival was for coaches to evaluate their teams and mix and match lines and work on the power plays/kills before going to their first tournament.old goalie85 wrote:So was this a tourny in Crookston ? If so who won it?
I believe the Red River Mud Sharks won all four of their games, the Loons and the Gulls were 2-2 and the Lakers went 0 for.

Spring Festival Format in TRF/Crookston
We played in the 2000 level in TRF with the same format. The kids loved it. Heck, I think the Parents even liked it.old goalie85 wrote:Sounds like a cool way to start the summer hockey season. Thanks for the info.

Miracle vs. Edge
Miracle had a scrimmage against Edge. No refs and no official score was kept. It was pretty close, but I think the edge (no pun intended) went to the Miracle team (in additional to the unofficial score).

Why don't they keep the score? I mean this is AAA hockey, nobody's feelings should be hurt at this level. You either win or you lose.Newbie Dad wrote:Miracle had a scrimmage against Edge. As my UserID implies, I'm just a Newbie Dad in the stands ~ I have no say over anything. It wouldn't have bothered me if they had kept score, but it still seemed like a productive scrimmage even though they didn't.
Generally speaking, when AAA teams "scrimmage" each other, does that mean that they have refs, stop time, penalties, the scoreboard and the whole deal? In this case it was just running time and a coach or two on the ice keeping things under control and calling any obvious penalties.
