Bjugstad or Fasching

Bjugstad is far and above all other hockey players in the state of minnesota thats why he won mr. hockey, its true he had to terrible games but still got some attention in the stands by some of the plays he made. My guess is bjugstad will be a great college hockey player and if he gets stronger and bigger a great pro, and i heard that fashing is done growing so i think hes at his peak and will also be a great highschool and a very average college player and not a chance at pros.

Based on what?

and...

1. How would anyone have any idea if Fashing is done growing?
2. Does he need to grow anymore? He doesn't need to get taller, he needs to get bigger and stronger which he has complete control over.

The kid is 14 years old....how on Gawd's Earth can you, or anyone, claim he is done growing? It's unheard of for kids to completely stop growing and developing physically at such a young age. And even if he is done growing, he is 6'3" 215......how much bigger would he need to get?

Mr Fasching is 14 and conceivably could be in 8th grade. Dont underestimate that. He played unbelievable in state and may lack the smarts that experience may bring. That said, he plays smarter than most players his skill level regards their age. Hope he stays creative and stays with AV at least another year. Next year could be special for those boys. Him and AJ are still young and it would be nice to see both give another run at a state title. With the TV timeouts this team could have won it all in the finals. Next yr the depth should be better but hockey is a funny game. Hard enough to get to the tourney let alone win it. Good luck to the youngsters from the VALLEY.

Not to mention Hudson comes from a great family, and knows the concept of working hard. (Not taking away from Bjugstad, he is a great kid too) If you knew the family situations the kid has been through, you would applaud the accomplishments his family has made throughout the years, and this is coming from someone who hardly knows the Fasching family at all, just from observations. He is a great young man.

I agree… why must there be bashing to illustrate this point. There is no question the AV player has incredible potential. However, that and $1.90 will get you a Grande dark roast at Caribou. I am a big “bird in the hand over two in the bush” kind of person…and as of today this kid is still fully nestled in the bush. In the hand…Bjugstad is the real deal Holyfield… Mr. Hockey…Gopher recruit…first round draft pick? Nuff said. Will the pup be as good as the big dog…maybe…possibly...but I don’t think anyone can honestly predict that just yet. We’ll just have to stay tuned. As far as their performance in the Tourney is concerned…don’t’ think either one was overly impressive. Anyway… if you have witnessed this event for any length of time you know that it’s somewhat of a phenomenon. It can make a star look like a mere mortal and the mortal look like a star. It’s a snapshot and anyone trying to draw any real conclusions from it is wasting time.

Both are great players! Both have treamendous amounts of potential and skill. Bjugstad will be in the show someday! Yea he didnt carry his team in the Tourney but when he has one guy on him (not three) and he cranks his game up...he dominated and was five levels above everyone else in the regular season and sections. Some of you guys have to realize that Fasching is only a freshmen and even if he doesnt grow anymore he still has elite size (hes going to get faster too). For a kid that was right behind Bjugstad in the Tourney just goes to show how much better Fasching is going to get! Fasching is gunna be the real deal! Id take him over Schoerder!

A lot of love for Bjugstad. I don't think his state tournament preformance helped is draft status. Not going to be a savior for the U. Will be lucky to score 10 goals in the WCHA next year. Will be similar to Eric Johnson.

Eric Johnson played "D", though.

It's tough to compare Bjugstad and Fasching right now. It would be better to look at how good Bjugstad was his freshman season and compare that to how Fasching did this season. I think they both could be pretty good players at the next level.

15 in July and he will probably give a vebal within a year and that is the trend with top end players like this. Somewhat ugly, but a reality. The Gophs knew Bjugstad was coming his freshman year(remember he's only a JR)......... I liked the nobama name so I kept it nice

This is a stupid thread and an even worse comparison. The AV kid is like in 8th grade - give him some time and give Nick a break. One person can't carry a team a whole season. Good luck to Nick in the draft and at the U. Heck of a player and a great family.
