It would bug me to have schools who can select who enrolls, be forced to play Class A. Using enrollment numbers for privates in Class A is Bull.hockeyfan893 wrote:

9-0 Breck end of 2nd period. Private schools to AA now! Pretty sad for New Ulm to come to the X only to get embarrassed.HomeBarkingDog wrote:all Privates to the big school tourney...end of problemubugme wrote:Ok, the Breck v New Ulm game is really bugging me...
The MSHSL has to end this sham.

I wasn't really trying to debate this. I was just archiving your stupid post about trying to make the private schools that have their students striving to be the best play down with the cherry pickers.hockeyfan893 wrote:In my personal opinion, two highly competitive tournaments is better than a 1 class competitive tournament.ACTUALFORMERPLAYER wrote:How about 1 class.hockeyfan893 wrote: Or all privates to the small school tourney (where they belong according to enrollment).
Then you have two highly competitive tournaments.
The only way I think a 1 class tournament would work is if you did NCAA Basketball style format starting with 32 teams or so.

Enough of this
The MSHL needs to address this issue. School population numbers should have nothing to do what level they play at.
Breck 9 - New Ulm 0 after two periods is pathetic.

Right, because a class A tournament with competition between Breck, St Thomas, Hill Murray, Cretin, Benilde, Duluth Marshall and Holy Angels, Warroad, Mahtomedi, Herman town, (etc etc) would be a tournament FILLED with cherry pickers right?
So much weak competition there.
This is just to archive your lack of understanding what a competitive single A tournament would look like.

Read my handle. I've got a lot of pent up frustration with the state of youth/HS hockey in Minnesota. I finally had to register and log in here.ubugme wrote:Hawkfan, it bugs me that I have never read a first post that made more sense....endangeredHawkfan wrote:The MSHL needs to address this issue. This is exactly what Breck wants, this why they only played 2 AA schools all year. They want to be the best but don't want to play the best.
It's getting to the point where either all private schools go to AA with an appeal process or they need to be out of the MSHSL all together.
Of the last 20 teams to play for a class A state title 12 have been private schools, Warroad accounts for 4 of the remaining 8, Simley, Orono, Red Wing, and Hermantown are the remaining 4 teams.

when it comes down to it..These metro all star teams pick from a bigger area than the BIG schools like Tonka, EP, Edina...goldy313 wrote:This is exactly what Breck wants, this why they only played 2 AA schools all year. They want to be the best but don't want to play the best.

but yet..they want to play A ...its laughable..
I love your idea tho..You go to AA, or you leave the MSHSL
As a Breck parent, how could you not be embarrassed?goldy313 wrote:This is exactly what Breck wants, this why they only played 2 AA schools all year. They want to be the best but don't want to play the best.

I don't think Breck is leaving A unless they are forced to. Even though their school is relatively close to wayzata, edina, tonka, EP, Holy Angels, Jefferson, and other good programs they don't schedule a single game against these teams. They are willing to go to Red Wing, St. Clound and even down to play shattuck.
They are content being the big fish in their pond. Too bad for New Ulm.

47 players tried out for Brecks varsity, and they play single A hockey?
THATS embarassing.
NU barely has more than that in the whole youth association.
Its not brain surgery.
The Privates play AA, along with the huge schools.
The Irondales and River Lakes of the world play A.
It simply has to happen.
Or maybe not. No one's ever accused the MSHSL of excessive sensibility.

This is a slap in the face to all who ever played in the one class system The Minnesota Highschool league is totally disrespectful . Hockey fans all over must demand it be fixed. Whatever it takes. We will go broke giving everyone a medal of participation (lol)

In fairness to the MSHL, in the 90's class A was pretty fair and balanced. the only two private schools to play for a class A championship were Totino and Benilde. Since 2000 though, it has been pretty ridiculous, and I think everyone agrees it is time for a change.
Imagine a world...with no Wisconsin
