What Happened to Duluth East?
Sad to see they won't be representing the North at the PWA or BNA level.
Re: What Happened to Duluth East?
All I can say is that I drove down to watch both games today. Duluth East was totally outmatched by Grand Rapids. GR killed at least 8-10 more pens then East, GR had a good goal taken away, and the ref actually put timeback on the clock after the game was over! Now that was a first for me to see. Either way the best team won the game... GR will do well at the tourny. No Political Connections wrote:Sad to see they won't be representing the North at the PWA or BNA level.
Rapids beats east
Nice job Rapids! You deserve the win. It is always good to see the orange and black make the show. I can't wait to here the chant in richfield.
RAPIDS ....... RAPIDS. GOOD LUCK BOYS.

No team can win every game.
I guess I have a hard time critisizing a team because they are ranked number #1. They are ranked by people like us that read these pointless posts like I am doing!
East is certainly one of the Best teams in the State- no doubt. They lost to another great team in Rapids- end of story. The rest of the field in State just let out a huge sigh of relief when East was Eliminated.

Seriously if you don't think DE is one of the best bantam teams in the state this year then you are a moron. The best teams don't always win the championship or for that matter get a chance to play in the championship. Look at the 1990 HS state tournament, GR was far and away the best high school team in the state that year, did they win it??? No, Roseau beat them. Doesn't take anything away from the fact that GR was a great team? Not in my book. In fact, if you ask me that was one of the greatest HS hockey teams ever to play. Has anyone come on here and said GR doesn't belong in the state tournament, or made one single excuse for DE? To the contrary. In fact, if you ask most people who follow all of bantam hockey and not just their own kids team, you'd probably know that with the elimination of Edina, Minnetonka and DE, the state tournament has lost a little luster this year. That is not to take anything away from the teams there, they should be proud of their accomplishments, and enjoy the experience for what it is and whoever wins the tourney should be damn proud of doing so. But to pile on a team because they lost???? I'd be willing to bet that DE would beat any of those teams in the North Region 80% of the time unfortunately for them, the one time it counted they didn't get it done. But I agree with whoever said it earlier on this post or one of the others, there was a huge sigh of relief from every team in the tournament when they found out DE and Tonka were eliminated. I applaud the DE people for not coming on this forum with excuses for why they lost or even things that may have contributed to it. I know a lot of people up there in Duluth and have heard some of the things GR parents have written and said, not just on this forum but through emails and phone calls. In my opinion it is unfortunate. So how about you celebrate your teams success and not relish in the dispair of 14/15 year old boys. Grow up people. Class is a two way street, you should show it when you lose and you should certainly show it when you win!ponyboy30 wrote:i wonder how "the number one team in state" lost in regions

I think Rapids will rep North region as well as East or better. East has been everyone's pick all year long. Now G.R. comes in all pumped up ready to "show the state" what they can do. They had a nice run at the pee wee level so why not as bantams. Good luck to both teams from the north.[District 2 is nowhere to be found!!!]

wannagototherink, I do not think this guy is from Grand Rapids at least I hope not. As for the emails and phone calls and such I sure hope that is some bad information too. Winning is an honor especially when it is against a very formidable opponent. One should enjoy success when it comes, I would hope kids and parents take that into consideration.
