So what happens if Kvidt "just has a good game", and Edina let's in a soft one (or two)?218-to-State wrote:Im not hating. But Iwill say that I am a spud fan. People that are saying this team is gonna be like last years spuds against edina are out of their minds. The Moorhead team was much stronger last year. And better goaltending. I was at the section final game on Wednesday and Roseau didn't play any good. They looked terrible in fact. Kvidt just had a good game and Bitzer let in a soft one early in the first.mn miracle man wrote:Don't hate on Roseau just because they ended the season of your precious spuds. They have some very talented players so give them credit, and with Kvidt playing a good game they have a chance against this Hornet squad.bjspud12 wrote:For all the people who have actually SEEN roseau play this year.. its gonna be ugly.
Cake eaters 6
Roseau 2
But to my point, if Roseau plays ANYTHING like the way they played against MHD on Wednesay and Edina comes out swingin', this could legitimately be running time. But even if Roseau plays well and Edina plays well, it will still be a 3 goal margin of victory for the Hornets at the least.
Moorhead was ok last year, nothing flashy compared to some of their past teams - but they played well enough to win, surprised a few teams, and ended up 2nd. Not bad for an "ok team"!
Point being - anything can happen. Will it? Who knows, but "that's why they play the game"!

Had to love it when Giles brought up the freshman Nanne boy from JV and puts him directly on top line with Sit. Now he's hidden the talent on 3rd line to confuse the opponents? Definitely a change from his coaching tactics last year but hey guess they didn't work so well last year. I would be very surprised if he didn't better prepare his team for the quarterfinal game after the disaster last year when he looked past Moorhead.
Edina needs to come out strong and put in a couple of quick goals (look for production from third line with the famous Mr. Nanne and the very talented Mr. Sit). I'd love to see Taft step up and play like he's very capable of playing but with a ton more intensity. As a senior he needs to step up and lead this team now that they have made it to State - especially on the ice.
Hoping for a Tonka-Edina Championship so Tonka can avenge the only smudge on their otherwise perfect season (with deepest respect still to a good Wayzata team that couldn't quite beat them but sure played well against them).
I'm sure Roseau will bring their A game! Still Edina by at least 3.

I wasn't aware Lou used to have a neutral point of view.High_Plains_Dangler wrote:I thought that Lou Nanne loved Edina enough already... but now throw his grandson on the team! Hmmm, I wonder if this will interfere him from having a neutral point of view. I don't even want to know how bad his color is going to be for that game

I will take ROSEAU 3 to 2!
As for bjspud12........
Please dont let his comments speak for all Spud fans. I will be cheering at the top of my lungs for Roseau come Thursday! Section 8 or Section 7! NEVER will I cheer for the cake eaters of Edina!
Thats Mr. Potatohead to you!
Nanne is a professional and I've never noticed him favoring Edina when covering their games. Here's the thing. I think we all know how Nanne has his man crushes every year on the top handful of players in the tournament. It seems to me this is the issue that really leads him to favoritism.east hockey wrote:I wasn't aware Lou used to have a neutral point of view.High_Plains_Dangler wrote:I thought that Lou Nanne loved Edina enough already... but now throw his grandson on the team! As someone who played for Edina during the Spehar years, I can tell you it was not Edina that Lou was gushing about!
Of course it may well be another ball game when you throw his grandson into the equation.

"look at how well Edina does this, and that".......I can hear it now. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I don't think he will be unbiased.

Sweet old Lou, god love him, and I do for the knowledge & history he brings to the Tourney braodcast each year...halla wrote:Here's the thing. But...
Driving home from work yesterday, Lou was on KFAN, and the question was asked about his grandson playing for the Hornets, and Louey replied with a giggle, "I was definitely excited for my son (Marty) when he made the tourney in '84, but it seems a much bigger event for me, having my grandson playing...", and then said with a laugh again, "don't tell Marty that..." I paraphrase, but he is very excited as I would be I guess...

It will be interesting what you guys say about the broadcast tomorrow during and after the game... I will be at the X, so please let us know how gushy he gets...
With all that said, GO RAMS

I think we can all understand that but he's biased every year. He just loves Edina and a handful of players and lets everyone know it.Pinky wrote:To be honest, if you're grandson was playing in the state high school hockey tournament and you were the annoucer....you wouldn't be a little biased either ?? I know for a fact most grandpas would whether they were hard asses or not.

Kinda makes you want to root for Roseau, doesn't it?HockeyFan1 wrote:Slap Shot wrote:Nanne is a professional and I've never noticed him favoring Edina when covering their games. Oh, wait. I was already rooting for Roseau in this game.

Cause there's no bias against Edina by the average non-Edina fan right?HockeyFan1 wrote:Slap Shot wrote:Nanne is a professional and I've never noticed him favoring Edina when covering their games. To be honest the people whining about Nanne sound like non-Gophers fans that claim all Woog does is gush about the Gophers, which couldn't be further from the truth. I am not an Edina fan (far from it in fact) but I'm reasonable enough to recognize that Nanne doesn't show Edina preferential treatment during broadcasts and Lou will have plenty of positive comments about the Rams tomorrow.
Not necessarily. You may not be a fan of theirs yet be able to objectively (i.e. sans bias) view them. Edina hasn't been the powerhouse they were for at least a dozen years and the hatred for them (when they are no different than any other affluent metro community) boggles my mind.hero12 wrote:I think the definition of non-Edina fan would be somebody who is bias against Edina?Slap Shot wrote:

Always a big matchup when you have the chance to knock off your biggest rival for all-time total State Championships.
Roseau is tied with International Falls with 7 titles not Edina. (From MSHSL)

Roseau 4
Edina 1
Close but not so, a little know fact (From MSHSL)

State Boys Golf Tournament Appearances

Sure, if you don't include Edina East.Cornbread wrote:ACTUALFORMERPLAYER wrote:Edina is a huge favorite. These teams haven't met since 1998 with Roseau winning that one in OT. I didn't include East and I didn't forget about IFalls. I was talking about who will have the record in the future. To stay one ahead of Edina, Roseau can knock off Edina. IFalls is a nonfactor since they play class A and I was discussing State Championships.Slap Shot wrote:Sure, if you don't include Edina East.Cornbread wrote:ACTUALFORMERPLAYER wrote:Edina is a huge favorite.
