Never mind. I see Hermantown won 3-2.
The fighting team has a hockey problem

I am pretty sure Hermantown won but cannot remember if it was 2-1 or 3-2.

It was 3-2 I believe and the Hawks outshot them somewhere along the lines of like 2 to 1. Also, Mahtomedi with the win over STA so it will be nice to get some more public flavor to the tourney! Like I said before one could interchange Hermantown and Mahtomedi but I give the Hawks the slight edge, thus I stay with my picks.

1. Breck
2. Hermantown
3. Mahtomedi
4. Warroad

Then...
Virginia
Lourdes
Alexandria
New Ulm

Now they just draw the last 4 to assign to the top 4 if I remember correctly? Would be nice to see one of the northern squads draw New Ulm at least, although Warroad has gotten lucky with their Hutchinson and LDC draws the last couple years!

I hope Breck draws Virginia and gets beat. Oh yea, and the Zephs can get New Ulm and that would be fine by me...

if virginia draws hermantown, i think they can upset them. seen both teams play recently, and virginia looked strong. bring there A game and they might surprise a few people.
If Mahtomedi wins tonight that's two St Thomas wins in 4 games; is that enough to get them the #1?
There is no way you can take the #1 away from Breck after they beat Mahtomedi twice this year and are defending champs.

Yes I agree the less amount of privates the better the tourney. I do have to admit all of the cadets for the tommies is impressive at the Excel. Oh and the chants of "Brokeback Mountain" at the cadets, that is always funny. I'd like to see Virginia draw the 4th seed so at least they would have a chance to play the whole tourney at the "X". If Virginia doesn't make it to the finals, I'd like to see Hermantown beating Warroad/And their Canadian players.

Warroad doesn't have any Canadian players. In fact, they don't even have any kids who have moved there recently on this years squad that I know of.

1 BRECK just because there record and they are defending champs.and they beat dowm mahtomedi twice

2 WARROAD the only comparison on mahtomedi is warroad beat moorhead and were always ahead and won 5-3 and hill murrey had to come from behind to beat moorhead 3-2 and the hill handled mahtomedi twice easily

3 MAHTOMEDI because they are better then h-town

4 HERMANTOWN fourth seed because of the bad games against the duluth teams, the ot wins they should have dominated those teams

Man, I love being right 8)

The top team gets the easiest team, which may not make for very good hockey, but is how it should be. The other games should be some very good match ups.

dont be so sure the eagles dont just lay down to anyone even if it is breck. expect it to be a better game than most people would give the eagles credit for.

have you seen Hermantown play? I've seen both teams play and its really the goaltending that gives that gives mahtomedi the edge

Class "A" Tourney

Post by Tigers95 »

I think the Class "A" tourney will be very exciting. Maybe even better then the "AA" Tourney. 7 of the top 10 ranked Class "A"teams are in the tourney. Even the quarterfinal matchups could be really good other then Breck vs. New Ulm game. Some of the "A" teams can and have competed very well with the "AA" teams. Don't really care who wins just hope to see some great hockey. No better weekend in March then the State Hockey Tournament. See You at the X.
