#4 LDC vs. #1 Hutchinson - 3/2

Post by casualobserver »

Hutchinson beat LDC 4 -1 back in December.

LDC has improved all year long. They have some very impressive wins along the way. Adams can dominate at times. Some inconsistent goalie play from Johnson.

Hutchinson has struggled to score during stretches this season. Lines have changed several times. Swenson has yet to hit his stride in the net. When they are clicking, they can move the puck around.

This game will be electric. This rivalry goes back to the 70's.

My pick Hutch, with a 2 goal victory.

Great analysis imo.
See it the same way.
Expecting a one-goal game myself, Hutch 4 Litch 3.

Looking back at the last few years of this rivalry:

12/19/06 - LDC 7, Hutch 6 - Brett Danielson scores 3 goals in the third for the Dragons, sparking a comeback from a 5 - 4 deficit.

12/18/07 - Hutch 3, LDC 3 - LDC's Taylor Berry scored a goal with 1:22 remaining in the third th lnt the game at 3 goals apiece.

2/23/08 - LDC 2, Hutch 0 - Hutchinson was unable to get a goal past hot LDC goalie, Lucas Johnson in the 3A semi-final game. Litch goes on to beat New Ulm for the 3A crown.

12/19/08 - Hutch 4, LDC 2 - Hutchinson got third period goals from Mitchell Cowger and Riley Bengston to secure a 4 - 2 win.

12/15/09 - Hutch 4 LDC 1 - Hutch goalie Zak Swenson makes 34 saves to key the victory for the Tigers.

3/2/10 - What do you think? Let's hear some predictions for the 3A semi-final game...

Toss up...
Litch beats Marshall in section - Marshall can't score well, tough goalie
Marshall takes Hutch to overtime in Feb. - Marshall great goal tending and a few lucky goals.

I think if Sweson is on, then Hutch should take the game. If Litch goaltending is solid, then it will be a tough battle. Both goaltenders are inconsistent this year.

The team that brings the passion will win the game. It could come down to whichever goaltender is hot in the net. Both teams have scoring power and forwards that work hard. I think Hutch has a little more power than Litch, but it will come down to the hot goalie. I think Hutch has the playoff experience and the home ice, but Litch will bring it all and leave it on the ice. Can't wait to see this one!

A great forgotten rivalry just west of Cities. Go back to the 90's and this was as heated of a rivalry as you can get in HS school hockey. Anyone remember the section final games at Bloomington. Those were fun games!! Kinda got lost for a while but with these two teams playing in the same conference and section next year things are starting to heat up again.

Tough one to predict. Hutch has the best goaltender in the section but he has been a bit inconsistent and the team as a whole is inconsistent. LDC goaltending has been erratic at best. However, i am going with the best team top to bottom and i am saying LDC 4 Hutch 2. If LDC goes to state it will be a very deserving trip.. Marshall, Hutch, New Ulm. Sorry i am already taking Luverne out of the picture.

Nice win Dragons.

It was a full house at Burich Arena. The Finnish flag was a wavin. Close game. Difference was the power play for LDC. They got it done.

The rivalry continues....

Good luck against New Ulm!!!
