Hey boys thanks for the shots, but not quite accurate. Final score with ER was 3-2 and as far as a loss to crow river I think Wayzata took one on the chin from Orono and LS took one or 2 early on this year as well. As you say these ar 9 and 10 year olds anything is possible. I would also have to think that ER might be the team getting the props if they were attending over the rest and yet STMA has already beat them in a championship and the Fire was the only other team to stop them in a tourney. Intercity teams have deep offensively talented kids no doubt, but you gotta play on both sides of the puck ask Centennial and Jefferson. Hockey is played from the net out fellas and gals, hopefully the boys will be able to back me on this one (9 and 10yr olds who can say). We'll se ya in Fargo, and goodluck and safe travel to all.

I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and cheer for offside. STMA doesn't have any superstars; they play solid team hockey and have great goaltending - without the luxury of having 150 kids from which to choose. Parents and kids have committed to putting in the work needed to improve, including summertime - alongside a pretty good STMA baseball program. Good for STMA, good for D5, good for those programs outside the metro ring (especially since the metro has already claimed Prior Lake and will annex Waconia if their squirt program is an indication of the future – assuming they aren’t priced out of their arena). In addition, not to excuse STMA, but Crow River has one of the best individual squirt players I’ve had a chance to watch this year; I don’t think D5 peewee coaches will be too sad to see him playing in D3 next year.

I keep hearing rumors the EP thinsk they have a good chance to win Fargo. Lets just say that the Gophers men's hockey team and Gophers basket team and the Timberwolves all have a better chance of winning their respective championships in their sport this year than does EP of winning Fargo. They are only the 5 or 6 best team in D6, much less win Fargo. As for STMA, they have a nice team, but you aren't as good as you think you are!! Wayzata all the way! There's my smack talk for the tourney. Good luck to all

STMA does have superstars, they just play in the net and on D. I like STMA a lot and want to cheer for them .... but it gets harder the more I read offside's posts . Agree, Crow River player is very good. As my boy said "He's a beast". Rather than showing how weak a team is I think it shows how many good teams and players there are.

How can you possibly make such a ridiculous prediction :?:

On the Squirt A forum I picked LS vs Wayzata a month or so ago and that is who I would pick now. Both are deep and strong. I would also say that the STMA goalie and defense can and will keep them in every game, however it will be tough in a long hard tourney like this to hang throughout, they will likely lose just due to depth. The same with some of the others such as tonka etc... I do not think EP has the top end skill on this team to win this either, their defense and goaltending are good but not enough to win it.

As far as losing in district play, in squirts that means much less than it does in the older age groups. Most teams switch up their players much more in district games than in tournaments. The coaches would rather have a lesser line up in the district games than in the tournament games, thus I would suggest some of the loses that have happened in the regular season (Wayzata to Orono, Stillwater to Roseville and FLake) would never happen in a tournament because the coaches wouldn't put that type of lineup together for a tournament game. This is even more true of the larger assoc. who seem to have stronger opinions about having all players play all positions in squirts with the exception of goalie.

Good Luck to all should be fun!

ANY UPDATES? I heard STMA is doing well. North Carolina beat East Grand Forks and Bloomington knocked off Maple Grove. I still like Wayzata. They seem to have consistently improved all year. I would love to see a smalller Association win it though. STMA might be the team.

Fargo Final 8:

St. Michael's / Bloomington Jefferson
Edina / Prior
Wayzata / Minnetonka
Affton / EdenPrairie

Is "Affton" actually "Afton" MN?

Too bad LS and Wayzata played that early. I am a little surprised at the score...

From afar ... and not having seen any of these teams in the past 3 weeks ... I think it is LS's tourney to lose. I don't think EP can keep up with them this time around (I know EP beat them in Edina but that won't happen again) and their depth will get STMA. Prior Lake got a pretty good draw from my estimation, they are good but wont get past the D and Goalie of STMA.

Should be fun!

Wow...congrats to EP and STMA

EP is surprising me! I haven't seen them in while, they must be playing better and improved!

Good for them, that is what squirts are all about!

Looks like Lakeville South played some tough teams all the way through. Maybe they were worn out.

Congratulations to EP! They had a great run! It looks like District 6 faired pretty well with 4 of the final 8 teams.

Thanks for the tip, after EP WINNING Fargo I will go bet the house on the Gophers Bbal and Hockey teams and the Twolves to win it all. Show me the money.

Hats off to EP, although they had the easiest draw by far of any other team in the pools until they got to LVS. LVS had to get by Tonka and Wayzata to get there. EP shortened the bench significantly, but they can do that if they want. They were not the best team there, but they put it together for one weekend and for that they get the title.

Wow Gorilla - Sounds like sour bananas to me!

The way I see it, EP had to beat LVS and STMA to win the whole thing and STMA is twice the team that Wayzata or Tonka is. LVS has a good team and if they play this tourney 10 times the outcome would be different each time. Give em credit - give them ALL credit. Win with class, lose with dignity.

Congrats to all the teams! Including LVS
