Irondale vs. Edina AA Semi-Final

Post by Sparlimb »

Irondale is the 2 seed and did beat Edina 3-2 in the Edina Christmas tournament. Edina overall had the better of play that evening but couldn't score again after jumping out to a 2-0 lead. Irondale's goalie Gillian McDonald has been playing very well lately, so I'm predicting another one goal game. Thoughts?

Lorence and McDonald were incredible. They just got tired. They were playing every other shift and sometimes if the TV timeouts match up right they were playing every shift. By the third period they were exhausted and Edina's depth allowed them to play 3 lines and keep their stars fresh. I think that depth and Edina's goalie, Maddie Dahl, were the difference in the game. Congratulations to Irondale on a very special season. They were a lot of fun to watch.

McDonald did not look like her normal self, especially in the 3rd period when by that time she was totally spent. I thought Lowrence held up better and remained a threat 'till the end.
