Who will win 1A??

Hard not to agree with TNT on this subject. Lourdes is essentially a hand picked all-star team that does not even play in a conference. In addition to its ability to recruit each and every player, they also get home ice every single year if they make the sections semi's or finals. That is without question a huge advantage over the public schools around the state. Look at the state tourney winners in class A year after year, Breck, STA, D. Marshall, I could go on and on but........ The real question is why are these teams allowed to play A instead of AA in the first place given all the advantages? I give some credit to the private schools that at least play AA where they somewhat belong. I would not think one would feel to sorry for Lourdes if a coach was trying to level the playing field a little bit.

I think it will be between Lourdes and Fairbault
Even though Lourdes beat Fairbault 6-3, I think it will be a close game.
It depends on how the goalies play. Even though Grieve has played the best in his career this year, I think Heimer will start for Lourdes. For Fairbault Foogaard will most likely start. Heimer will probably play a stronger game than Foogaard, therefor Lourdes will win 3-1.

Exactly which makes this a complete non story and only made a story by the PB and whomever leaked it to them for no reason other than he/they has an axe to grind or to make someone look bad. Both of which are unaccaptable from anyone covering or coaching high school sports.Black Ice wrote: From what I know of the process in the past, the coaches are aware of who voted for what seeds(i.e. Lourdes coach).
According to MSHSL rule 10.15 concerning seeding: After recording all of the seeding numbers, the high and the low will be dropped. The remaining numbers will be totaled to determine the ranking, the lower the total the higher the rank.
It's a non story.

It is still being talked about so I'm guessing the story has some interest. Leaked, is this some sort of secret? I don't see why it should be. I know some coaches that would post it in their lockerroom how each coach seed the teams.goldy313 wrote:Exactly which makes this a complete non story and only made a story by the PB and whomever leaked it to them for no reason other than he/they has an axe to grind or to make someone look bad. Goldy, you are always so bitter against lourdes it seems. You have never said anything positive about them. If it was a non-story there would not be so many comments about it. They got screwed by the Faribault coach. It should be known to the public who voted for who. Yes, I agree that the Faribault coach did what he thought was best for his team to have a chance to win the Section. I also think it was bush-league what he did by basically voting for Lourdes to have the #5 spot in the section since they do not vote for themselves. Not sure how a team ranked #8 in the State can be the 5th seed in Section 1A but that is besides the point.goldy313 wrote:Exactly which makes this a complete non story and only made a story by the PB and whomever leaked it to them for no reason other than he/they has an axe to grind or to make someone look bad. Anyway, should be a great section tournament. It is Up for grabs as they say around here.
Hadn't realized there would be a double-header in Mankato tonight.
That worked out awesome for hockey fans there!
Section 1A has been fantastic for some time as far as competitive section playoffs goes, and this year is the same thing.
Enjoy it.
The final 4 will have very little seperating them. Exactly the way you want it.

Alright folks, we're down to eight, and the fun begins... Let's predict these games, and then we'll predict the semis, then the finals, and use a tiebreaker of total goals scored by both teams in semis and finals(combined).
#1 Faribault over #8 East 8-4.
#2 Rochester Lourdes over #7 Northfield 4-2.
#6 Mankato West over #3 New Prague 4-2.
#4 Albert Lea over #5 Red Wing 6-5.
#1 Faribault over #8 East 8-4.
#2 Rochester Lourdes over #7 Northfield 4-2.
#6 Mankato West over #3 New Prague 4-2.
#4 Albert Lea over #5 Red Wing 6-5.

Edger... NP vs Mankato may well be a close game, but no way will the scoring be that high. NP has only allowed four goals once in its last 14 games... and that was a 4-0 loss to Holy Angels.
Should be three good games and one blowout.
I'll say
NP 3, West 1 (eng)
Faribault 6, East 1
Lourdes 3, Northfield 2
Red Wing 6, Albert Lea 5

I like
Faribo over East
Lourdes over Northfield
New Prague over Mankato West
Red Wing over Albert Lea
but Albert Lea is never easy to eliminate especially at thier rink. That game can go either way depending on the goaltending.
Good luck look forward to seeing the games on Saturday..
Have fun play your tails off guys.

?Red Wing so streaky?
The trend is your friend...
Bault by 3+ as Ryan runs up the score
Lourdes by 2
NP by 1
RW @ AL is the tough one here, got a hunch its RW by 2
Why is Red Wing so streaky?
Seems like Ws and Ls come in 3-4 game runs.

Re: ?Red Wing so streaky?
Personally, I don't think running up the score is a bad thing for teams...bobforhockey wrote:The trend is your friend...

Teams need to go hard for 51 minutes, assuring themselves they won't regress for their next contest.
Faribault over East, 6-2
West over NP, 4-3
Red Wing over AL ,5-4
Lourdes all over Northfield, 7-2
Even though I'm a Scarlet fan, it would be a big upset for West to beat NP. New Prague has some big wins in the last month, including Prior Lake and 6-2 over Red Wing, plus tying Lourdes. Still, I'm going with the Scarlets.
East played pretty well last night, and all those Cougar seniors should be fired up against Faribault. Red Wing and AL seem pretty even, but AL should be very tough at home.
Northfield needing overtime against Waseca wasn't very impressive. If Lourdes doesn't dominate Northfield, with all the talent Lourdes has, then at least we shouldn't have to ask anymore whether or not they deserved the #1 seed.
