What Are The Odds?

Post by Black Ice »

what are the odds of no private schools making the state tournament in class A?Has this ever happened outside of the seperate private tournament?

1A - Faribault/New Prague over Lourdes (seems possible)
2A - Delano/Mound over Breck/Blake (outside chance)
4A - Mahtomedi/Spring Lake Park over St Thomas/T-G (decent odds)
5A - Hermantown/Denfeld over St Cloud Cathedral (good chance)
7A - IFalls/Hibbing/Virginia over Duluth Marshall (good chance)

It happened once in Class A (1998). Also happened both years of the tier system in the lower tier.

Last no-privates AA tourney happened in 2001. If someone knocks off Hill, the odds of another one could be pretty good, though CDH and AHA have chances. Don't think Benilde can win two in a row over Tonka/EP/Wayzata.

If this happens, what are you all going to cry about? You act like a private school wins this thing every year. We go to this tourney to watch hockey not complain about the schools, if we did we would always comment on the JV tournament that STA plays in, er the Vanelli's play in. The kids don't get much say. They go to school and listen to the coaches.

I'd say Tonka has a good shot, as does Edina and East wouldn't surprise me either...

Virtually zero chance of neither Breck or STA playing at the X this year. Although I supose one of them could be upset it would be hard to beleive that they both would fail no matter how much the rest of us may want to see it happen. They both just have two much firepower, depth and over all talent to be upset not to mention Brecks section is pretty weak this year as well.
