Actually, I'm pretty sure the Central Lakes Conference requires them to play the conference schedule. The Marriucci Conference, while a great one, is only hockey, and more of a formality these days...as hard as that is to believe for you I am sure. I do believe that at least part of the purpose of being in a conference is having the insurance that you will have a certain amount of games without having to go out and schedule all of them by yourself. Since the Marriucci Conference appearently doesn't have this, what does that tell you??? Now, a school like Brainerd woudl likely do OK as an independent. But what happens when they have a few down years???? Then certain area schools would quit scheduling them...such as one that is strait west of Brainerd on the ND border...then what??? Then they get to schedule games in Two Harbors or Baudette..or go to the TC to play Henry Sibley or St. Paul Academy..... and when they get sick of doing that, they get to try and schedule some other teams locally that will likely be in the CLC. No one is crying about what Moorhead has done, they are a power and keep coming back year after year...but I am pretty sure that the Spud fans of yesteryear were darn excited when their team had their first 20 win season....and trust me, they weren't playing against many Minnetonka's when they had their first breakout seasons....Potatohead9 wrote:Question to anyone? Does a team have to play a certain amount of games against their Conference or Section teams?ACTUALFORMERPLAYER wrote:
Brainerd is in the Central Lakes conference. They play only 13 of the possible 18 confernce games. They have games against the other Section 8AA teams. There schedule offers them very little flexibilty. If they were going to add games it would make more sense to play Bemidji and Roseau more than once than to make a trip to the cities. Adding a cities team does not guarentee good competition either. If they added Jefferson or Eagen the "experts" on the bored would say they still haven't played anyone.
I see that Moorhead plays (8) section 8 games and (7) Marriuci conference games 2 each (4 total) against Bemidji and Roseau. That left non conference/section games against Minnetonka, Wayzata (2X), Grand Rapids, DE, Jefferson (2X), Hill Murray, ER, Benilde, Centennial, Alexandria, and Fargo South. But I guess we could schedule teams like Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Crookston, Monticello, and Riverlakes, but then YOU would cry foul saying we run up the score and should pass the puck rather than score. So please dont tell us they have little flexibility.

BBB
Perhaps it's time for the Soprano's (shady bunch) to stop by and visit the better business bureau (BBB) and knock a little sense into his pinhead sized pinhead.
Brainerd allowed Roseau four times as many power play opportunies and Roseau folded up like a cheap card table. Couldn't handle the offensive forecheck of Brainerd and should have been beaten by four, maybe five goals.
Bring on the CIDIOTS. Fact is ... our goaltender is better than your goaltender and our Mayor can beat up your Mayor.
We've got Slappy and Bluesbuddy frothing at the mouth and gnashing their teeth in anticipation of being let out of their cages. They make Junior Soprano look like Mary Poppins.
Whether you like it or not -- the Blue Train is coming to an arena near you and they're going to "cow plow" anyone who dares cross its' path

The Braindead Hillbillies
Come and listen to a story about a team colored blue
A former fighting Sioux, kept 'em guessing with no clue,
Then one day he was confronted by some rams,
so he turned them into frightened little lambs,
ovine that is, green wool, tasty chops.
Well the first thing they built was muscle into steel,
Kinfolk said "These boys are for real"
Said "Xcel is the place you ought to be"
So they loaded up the bus and drove to St. Pauly.
Energy Center, that is. Fancy Suites, screaming fans.
Well now its time to say goodbye to Roseau and all their kin.
And we would like to thank them folks fer kindly droppin in.
You're all invited back again to this locality
when you get that seeded spot at good ole number three.
Bluesbuddy that is. Slapshooter style, Take your skates off.
Y'all come back now, y'hear?

Hey Kranky? Where did you get that picture of Bret Jenkins' dad?

winner in section 8
It would be great to see the monster teams of Roseau and Moorhead finally get beat come playoff time. The problem is that no one seems to be able to do that. Roseau with three tourney appearances in four years and Moorhead coming down the other times for the last decade? I would love to see Bemidji or Brainerd come out of that section. This could be the year since both Moorhead and Roseau have shown kinks in the armor. I vote for variety and that means upset time. Go Brainerd and Bemidji
