Duluth Central @ Eveleth Gilbert (1-6)
Who wins it? Could be crucial for 5th/6th seed 7A spot for winner.

another battle for the 5th seed in section 7A. i remeber LAST year i went to this game and Central pounded the golden bears 6-1, the trojans handled the bears pretty good but this year it looks like Eveleth had the better team .... looks like the trojans are a little down from last season and eveleth is a little up!

Even though these two teams mean no concern come playoffs due to the real teams like i-falls, virg, hibb, and marshall. I was just saying that the team I saw play yesterday, and the team I saw play last year, were two WAY different teams comparing the SIZE, SPEED, and SKILL. I know Centrals record this year is better, but i also noticed that centrals Schedule this year is one of the EASIEST in the state. ALot easier than their schedule last year! The only tough teams they play are the ones they have to play due to their LSC section. im not trying to dogg on the trojans at all, but what im saying is Last Seasons team impressed me and my friends more.

Neither would I. Improved scoring and Bret Gitar has had some very nice games in goal. I don't see this team making the 7A semifinals but they've come a long way. With the impending merger with Denfeld, the kids have a lot to play for. (Hint: Trojan pride)Bigdogs99 wrote:A little down?????? There 14-6-1 they won 9 games total last year i wouldnt call this team worse then last years

I like that back-handed slap you give Central here, comparing them to the "real teams" like Virginia, etc. No, you're not "dogging" them at all, are you?warroad44 wrote:Even though these two teams mean no concern come playoffs due to the real teams like i-falls, virg, hibb, and marshall. Did you stop at The Penalty Box on the way to the game. This year's Central team is a hundred times better and played a better schedule as well. The only good team they dropped was East and that was replaced by a high quality Rochester Lourdes and the Rochester class 'A' xmas tourney. I was also at the game and seen both teams before multiple times. I would say Eveleth over-achieved greatly and Central played well for having five Varsity kids out of the line-up.warroad44 wrote:Even though these two teams mean no concern come playoffs due to the real teams like i-falls, virg, hibb, and marshall. You should probably stop using a great hockey city in your user-name as you are very un-knowledgeable about HS hockey.
Just like I implied in my last post Im not too worried about these two teams because they have nothing to do with 8A nor the state tournament. and no i didn't stop at the penalty box on the way to the game. Im just saying what I saw at the game. I dont see how Centrals schedule this year can be any easier with the drop of AA Duluth East (13-5-4), AA Cambridge (9-11-2), and AA Winona (13-5-1) for teams like A La Crescent(7-14) AA Bloomington Kennedy( 6-15) and A Albert Lea(9-9)....... plus i noticed Wins over teams like Silver bay last season 6-1 and 9-2 turned into THIS SEASONS wins of only 5-2 and 4-1.. how does that make SCORING better this season??? Also getting back to the EVELETH game, pondhockey you said that 5 varsity players were out of the line-up during that game, well HOW IRONIC that 7-8 varsity players were out the same game and the last 5 games of the year for suspensions.

You think Marshall is going to end up at 4. I don't think anyone can justify giving Hibbing the 3 over Marshall when they lost 3-1 to them. I see the section shaping up this way.
1. Virginia
2. I' Falls
3. Marshall - if they beat Virginia by 2, then I give them the 2 seed.
4. Hibbing
5. Central
6. Eveleth
7. Greenway
8. Silver Bay
9. Ely
10. Two Harbors
