Hate to agree with dogeatdog but I do. The Storm have alot of big kids but very little talent and Highland even short skaters had an easy time with them. I do agree the Storm have some big guys but they aren't much of a threat.

You guys are still on a roll, certainly a top team. Good luck!

I think the next time you face Elk River the story might be a bit different.

Should be a good game if they meet in the region tournament.

I can't figure out why they play so poorly against Edina though.

From Sunday night:

Elk River-3
Andover-2

The Elks beat Andover in front of a crowd of about 500 fans at the Andover Community Center tonight. The home team, Huskies, scored first from just inside the blue line on a hard rising shot that just cleared the goalies shoulder. The score remained that way through the first period and until 2:57 of the second. The Elks scored on partially deflected and flubbed shot that popped up about six feet in the air and fell behind the Andover goalie into the net. The Elks took the lead at the 1:09 mark on a power play goal scored on hard shot from the top of the circle. Few people in the stands could follow that puck as it froze the Andover goalie.

Andover skated only 7 forwards and it began to take its toll in third. At the 7:00 mark (hard to tell since D10 using a running clock in the third period-the refs decide the running clock time before the third is started), the Huskies tied the score on a solo rush by a forward that managed to flip a high shot from the low left side edge of the crease with his last effort after sweeping past the defense on the outside. It was a nice play.

But the tie lasted only one minute. The Elks came back to take the lead on a high shot that was deflected slightly down into the right side of the net. The final score was 3-2. The refs let the teams play and called few penalties. The first penalty came late in the second period, called on the Andover bench. The ref was mad. A good game, players were up for it. Good fans, they were into the game and cheered the kids on. District title was at stake. Elk River takes it. It’s what kids dream about when they put on their skates.

The way D10 split up the districts is very interesting. Just doesnt seem right that 4 will get in from both sides. Anyone else have any take on this?

It's fair.

With 14 teams you would have to play 26 league games in order for everyone to play everyone twice. By splitting into essentially large clubs and smaller clubs, the two leagues play within their division each other twice, and crossover and play the other league teams only once.

Having this approach was in truth probably safer to the smaller organizations and fairer to both leagues.

By limiting the number of games between leagues it is fair to at least give both groups an even chance at districts even if their is an apparent disparity in win loss records.

No - it is not fair. You think that Chisago Lakes is a large association and St. Cloud is a small association?? It is a ridiculous way to set up the leagues (they do it at other levels too) because you are awarding teams that have an easier schedule and at times have a worse record than teams in the other Division.

There is no consistency how D10 sets up the Divisions. Rogers is with the smaller associations in the PWA and then they are in with the larger associations in girls. Centennial has 2 14A teams and has one in each Division.

There is no need to have Divisions, either have the teams play each other two times or determine some way to have select what teams play each other once or twice. I am pretty sure someone has a hat that they can take off there head and pull names out of it. Heck, the NBA still uses ping pong balls. Maybe you could borrow them for a weekend!!!!

I guess I don't understand why certain levels are broken up and others are not? There are 17 PWB1 teams and they're all together and there are 14 PWA and they're split. Maybe there is a good reason, but I don't get it. Can anyone explain it?

Won't have to worry about it next year I think.....
STC is being forcefully split to D-5 along with Sauk Rapids and Becker/Big Lake. Not that it makes a difference either way in this case...

So you would propose what in stead? Total points 1st-8th place straight across the board? Just asking the alternative I guess...

My take, probably easier on scheduling and stuff... Other than that, not sure it really matters..

Sorry to post that in the scores thread now that I think about it. I should have started my own thread but I didnt want to call too much attention to it. Just thought it was interesting as I would like to see Blaine hang on for the last playoff spot in there respected side.
