Gay Elite Minnesota HS Hockey Player...
http://www.hockeykidmn.com/
hey everyone, im not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but this blog by a HS hockey player in minneapolis has EXPLODED since its creation. hes done a few interviews (hes closeted, still) and says he believes he has around a 50% chance of playing in the NHL if he stays healthy.
the link to the block is at the top of the post, and i was just wondering what people think the reaction would be around the area if an elite hockey player came out publicly while playing in HS?

i think he writes a lot of his entries from his phone, so thats why he uses teen-text speak. i think its good because its really authentic and hes just being himself.espnmobile8 wrote:That blog is one of the most annoying things I've ever read, and not because the kid is gay. He should learn correct grammar and spell his words like an adult, then I'd feel more sympathetic towards him. The way he talks, it almost seems like a joke to me.

He'd get certainly get grief from immature highschool students, maybe a few ignorant players, and some inappropriate cheers from a student section.
Those people would come out looking like incompetent morons.
I definitely see you're point about the annoying spelling and grammar, it makes it seem fake.
If it is, that's pretty sad. If it Isn't fake, good for him.

Also, I don't think that just because a topic contains some controversial subject matter, that it should be immediately closed.
As long as it is kept to a discussion, and not a flame war, and if people keep it appropriate, we can keep it open. No names are being used, and we should absolutely keep away from guessing or speculating identities.
Obviously this is common sense, and 97% of you don't need to be reminded, but we all know those kids who make accounts for shock value posts...

i feel the same way. however, if he WERE to make it to the NHL already being openly gay, i think it would serve him WELL in terms of endorsements and money-making opportunities. he would likely be able to land a book deal and speaking gigs.wblhockeyfan8 wrote:He'd get certainly get grief from immature highschool students, maybe a few ignorant players, and some inappropriate cheers from a student section.

I agree, as long as he's putting a positive spin on a unique situation, for the benefit of others. Not blatantly milking it for all it's worth.sportsfan10 wrote:i feel the same way. however, if he WERE to make it to the NHL already being openly gay, i think it would serve him WELL in terms of endorsements and money-making opportunities. he would likely be able to land a book deal and speaking gigs.wblhockeyfan8 wrote:He'd get certainly get grief from immature highschool students, maybe a few ignorant players, and some inappropriate cheers from a student section.

ok, if thats your argument, then how would you feel if someone said that next time you started talking about a chick you like or something? "dont tell me, because i dont care!!" everyone talks about their relationships and such, its a way of life.youngblood08 wrote:Look at me! Don't ask, Don't Tell. How about Don't Tell cause I don't care!

Oops!SPUDNUT wrote:Speaking of annoying spelling and grammar, yours could use a little work, too - should be "your", not "you're".wblhockeyfan8 wrote:I definitely see you're point about the annoying spelling and grammar, it makes it seem fake.
Just when did they become "gay" ? When I was a kid they were queer !

I usually don't make that mistake! The use of proper contractions is a pet peeve of mine, so that is rather embarrassing!
