Eden Prarie @ Hermantown 1/23/10 Outside on Hockey Day Minn
Moderators: Mitch Hawker, east hockey, karl(east)
Hope your right on about that one sinbin that they are playing outside come hell or high water. Will make the game even more interesting.
This is going to be a fun day but what i think could of made it better is after Hermantown was told that Hockey Day Minn was coming there and they were told to find an opponent that Coach Randolph and Duluth East wouldn't of declined the offer to play. Herm/East is the biggest rivalry in the Duluth area at the youth level and playing a Herm/East HS game would of brought in so many people not just from Duluth but the surrounding area as well. And having 2 northern teams would of been great. So a big thumbs down to Coach Randolph and the Greyhounds.
That being said thumbs up to the EP coaches, players, parents etc. They had to drop someone from their schedule and travel north just to play outside lol. Guess they didn't think "they" were beyond playing a so called "JV" team. Hope you all have a great time!
And have to give another thumbs to the Hermantown coaches. When they found out they were going to host HDM they didn't worry about their win/loss record or looking bad on tv in front of maybe millions of people. They thought about how to make the event as entertaining and as successful as they possibly could. They didn't look for a team that they could of for sure beat just to look good. They first went to a local team Duluth East and when they declined the offer they went right to the top of AA with EP. Says alot about the program i'd say. Good luck Hawks

Whether it's true or not, I wish East would take on the challenge. And I would be surprised if Hermantown didn't ask East if they wanted to play them on the great day of Hockey Day Minnesota....

This has been the word around for months. And in todays Hermantown Star paper it said that Duluth East was Hermantowns first choice for an opponent for HDM. And it does stand to reason that a local team like Duluth East would be asked before EP. Just makes sense.

Well since it's true, I wish you die hard East fans (nothing against you) would admit that your team is scared to play Hermantown. I mean seriously.

East beat up on Hermantown for countless years and then, i could be wrong, but i think it was in 01 that Hermantown finally beat them and won the LSC. That was the last time East played Hermantown and they dropped out of the LSC. Guess coach Randolph took his puck and went home.

Alright. It's time for me to come forward with the sensitive information. It is a difficult decision, but I simply could not withhold the truth any longer. The admission has to be made.
Whenever an East coach, player, or fan sees anyone in a Hermantown jersey, he immediately breaks out in a sweat. His knees begin to knock, his heart rate intensifies, and, after a short pause, his bladder fails. The instinct to flee then kicks in, and the unfortunate Greyhound must immediately run and hide beneath a rock for the next decade.
There. I said it. East is, indeed, scared of Hermantown.
Now you know the truth.

They lost to them once in how many years and they are scared?? You dont see HM, HA, Benilde, Wayzata, EP, Tonka ( <-- biggest example ) backing down from top A teams.. the A vs AA is a joke to me.. Its a copout.. All size of the school put aside if STA, Breck or Htown was in AA East would have no problem playing them.. Even tho those "A" "JV" schools had better teams than 90% of AA in the entire state.. I would have LOVED East to play the 2004, 2005, or 2006 marshal team..karl(east) wrote:Alright. There is a way for A teams to force the AA teams to play them. Especially these ones that are, "better than 90% of the AA teams".mj79 wrote:They lost to them once in how many years and they are scared?? I'm going to assume here that former player would say the way to make them play you is to move to AA. And mj you say if Hermantown was AA they would have no problem playing them. I dissagree that it's just a class AA/A issue. Last night they played Duluth Denfeld and they are in section 5A same one as Hermantown.

False... Like stated above, imo they just dont want to play a little school like htown and loose.. And if you did your math you would know that Denfeld will be in 7AA soon , so it doesnt look as bad .. East and Randolph i really think are scared of good single A teams... ie Breck last year..

This game should still be a very good matchup despite all the drama.

Come join the other little schools in AA and take your lumps when you are down. It doesn't hurt any worse to be down in AA than it does A. A big win is so much more rewarding.
Roseau still plays Warroad every year even though there is zero benefit to Roseau other than the cash cow at the gate. You East guys do a great job of covering for Randolph but nothing says don't go to Marshall or Hermantown better than a 10-1 spanking. Maybe it is time for God to take off his skirt???
