I have seen him play all through youth hockey. He has always had talent. He has worked hard on the offensive side, not nearly the same on the D side. Whether that was Dl's plan as he was / is by far their best player that could be.

He has the ability, It will be interesting to see how it all pans out. He would have a more difficult time of it playing against even mid level teams all the time. Only time will tell..

Wolfpack, I would suggest you look up the meaning of "forum". It is a place to express opinions and I have mine. I really don't care if you agree with me or not.

If you want another opinion, which clearly you don't, I can put you in touch with the MN WILD scout I watched the game with on Tuesday night and he can tell you the same thing. Boatloads of talent, he just needs to be consistent with his work ethic.

I think you're missing the point. With his talent, Tanner should be the best player on the ice every time he steps on it. He isn't all the time. He doesn't just have bad shifts, he takes shifts off. I'm not talking about how much he skates during the off season or even in season, I'm talking about what I see during games. He needs to work as hard every shift like he did when he was a freshman and he can go as far as he wants to.

I personally hope he does and we can watch him play for years.

We had a couple years where 1 or 2 players at a little school just north of St Cloud carried their team, with a schedule just a tad more difficult than that of Detroit Lake's to lose less than 20 games in 5 years (including the postseason).

What is different in this situation? If he is really as good as some on this thread would have you believe, shouldn't his team be doing a little better?

He has the talent to go farther if he desires, nobody questions this, why doesnt everyone just let the kid grow up and mature a bit,

DL lost to Fergus Falls once, tied them once, lost to Crookston, and lost to Fort Frances, they have a few other ties..... trust me budy, DL's season this year and Little Falls' five seasons is nothing to compare. The JV team from DL would likely have almost the same record as the Varsity. I realize that in your universe, hockey is not played outside of the twin cities, but try to fathom for a second if your wonderful Caditiots were playing against all JV and Bantam teams....this is what teh Lakers' schedule is.

Huh? Their JV team is just as good as the varsity at DL? What are you talking about?

Little Falls have the 71st ranked schedule by Pagestat and Detroit Lake has the 127th. Yes, it is different years, but if you actually look at the schedules, you'd see the Flyers is difficult.

Yes, I requoted it. So, you're basically saying the Lakers have a ridiculously easy schedule, some people are saying this guy is amazing good, not carrying the team to victory with their easy schedule and somehow that doesn't agree with me 100%?

rams, i understand what you're saying, but maybe work ethic is just a term that gets used loosely. when you talk about his lack of work ethic, that makes it seem like he doesn't put enough time/effort into hockey.

consistency, yes, that's something he definitely needs to work on. i know all about the wild scout at the game, and i'm positive that he feels the way you (and i) do about tanner's consistency (or lack thereof). i suppose that's where our wires got crossed.

Kudos to him... so what he plays a weak schedule and a fairly weak team.. hes a good player. he is dong something right if he has that many points..... so i say congrats dude.. it is what it is.. there is better players out there. but congrats tanner. you are a stud.

Never did mention your alma matter in your message, I did in mine.

The Detroit Lakes varsity hockey schedule this year is way easier than Little Falls' varsity hockey schedule the last five seasons, you can not compare them. The Detroit Lakes varsity hockey schedule this year is so easy that the Detroit Lakes junior varsity hockey team would have almost the same number of wins if they played the same teams that the Detroit Lakes varsity hockey team has played this season ..(the varsity Detroit Lakes hockey squad is winning games by scores of:11-0, 15-0, the junior varsity Detroit Lakes hockey team would win with scores like this: 6-2, 5-1). The Detoit Lakes varsity hockey team's schedule this year is so easy, it can be compared to a schedule of junior varsity hockey teams and bantam hockey teams for your St. Thomas Academy Cadets varsity hockey team.
I do not unerstand how you can try to compare apples and oranges. You asked what the difference in the schedules was, I told you. I am sorry if I confused you. I will try to be more clear from now on. OK? I am ending my message now. Thank you.
