WSHL or MJHL
both are tier3 A but is there a big difference
There are many differences between the MNJHL and WSHL.
1st. The WSHL has 3-4 good teams each year and besides those teams, the rest of the league is not good. In the MNJHL, every night anyone can win (except the Wildcats). Top to the bottom the league is solid.
2nd. Price is a huge difference between the MNJHL and WSHL. Both leagues are tier III so players have to pay to play. The MNJHL teams cost anywhere from 3,500 to 5,000. The WSHL teams cost anywhere from 4,500-6,500. Add in the cost of flying or driving to the city you'll be living in and the price of billeting and you could end up paying over 8,000 a year to play in the WSHL.
3rd and most important... Exposure. Most players who move on that play tier III end up playing Division III college hockey. Why leave Minnesota when most of the schools that you will want to play for are right here? MIAC, NCHA and MCHA schools almost never take a recruiting trip to LA, Texas or Arizona when there is plenty of talent in their back yard. If you're going to play tier III after HS, might as well stay close to home where there is plenty of exposure and your parents are able to see you play.
