Eden Prarie @ Hermantown 1/23/10 Outside on Hockey Day Minn

Post by Northhcky »

#3 (in karls poll) AA Eden Prarie 10-2 faces off against #3 A Hermantown 13-1 on one of Hermantowns outside rinks. Should be a fun game regardless of the outcome but what do you think? Can one of the top so called by many "JV" teams skate with one of the AA's best?

Hermantown has a very good team. I agree with you. They will skate with the big dogs and they will compete making this a very fun and interesting hockey game.

Not that there's anything wrong with the Jazz Club, but...

National Weather Service Hazardous Weather Outlook for Duluth, MN

HEAVY PRECIPITATION IS POSSIBLE SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AS A LOW
PRESSURE SYSTEM TRACKS NORTHEAST OVER THE UPPER MIDWEST. THE
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO START AS A WINTRY MIX OF
RAIN...FREEZING RAIN AND SNOW FRIDAY NIGHT...THEN CHANGE OVER TO
ALL SNOW SATURDAY OR SUNDAY WHEN SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATION IS POSSIBLE.

We can only hope either the storm isn't as severe or it goes south or slows down and comes later. Would be a shame after all the nice weather we have been having for it to ruin this day. I think they have a plan tho that if it is too bad out they can move the games inside but that isnt what everyone wants to see.

Might just be high water if the storm tracks a little south of expected and we get a ton of rain. Or high freezing water.

EP is one of the top 2 or 3 AA teams, Hermantown is one of the top 2 or 3 A teams. This game should finally show everybody just how different metro AA hockey is from Iron Range A hockey. The top ends both have talent but the depth isn't there in single A.

It's outside in an uncontrolled environment. I think it's going to be a good game, but if it were inside it would be a much different contest. The ice will not be as good as it would be inside, which will make for much sloppier play. This could come down to how many bounces each team gets. Who knows what the weather is going to do, and not having any glass around the rink should provide some interesting puck movement off the ol chain link fence. Either way, it should be a very good day of hockey!

I hope Eden Prairies GPS works, the last time these kids were this far out of the cities was to go to their cabins last summer. That said EP 4-2.

your ignorant statement about depth makes this post of yours even better.. Im gonna guess your gonna be "the guy " that makes an excuse for EP if they lose cuz of the rink right??

Bad weather will probably depress the score. Normally you'd say that would help the underdog, but EP is such a complete team that I don't know it'll make a difference. I'd love to see the upset, but I'll pick EP by 2 or 3.

A geography lesson for our EP friends: calling Hermantown "Iron Range" is the rough equivalent of calling Mankato "Southwest Metro." :D

Don't forget get. Hermantown won't have that very annoying goal horn, that is ponted at the vistor bench, outside. But I don't think they would be using it much for the hometown team for this game anyways.

EP will roll'em. Kraus and company will take some cheap shots as usual.
