Moorhead @ Duluth East 730pm Heritage

Even though the East Hockey website states the 12/22/09 games vs Moorhead varsity and JV as 530 start times, the varsity game begins at 730pm, in the Heritage rink.

The MSHSL.ORG Duluth East Hockey schedule is, in fact, correct. JV @ 530pm in Heritage Pavilion rink.

Central vs CEC Varsity @ 530pm, Heritage rink.

You are the only source I've found not saying East v Moorhead @ 5:30 and Central v. CEC @ 7:30.

The East school website says it's at 7:30 and includes a note saying the time was changed.

Should be a fun game; I wish I could be there. May or may not be able to catch the MSBN broadcast.

How is the new Heritage Arena in Duluth ? Is it completely finished ? Is it worth a trip to Duluth to see a game there ? It's too bad Hill-Murray and East no longer schedule each other in the regular season. They have played at the Schwan Cup in recent years. They are 4-4-1 against each other over the last 10 years. They may matchup again next week.

I was just there for a tournament this past weekend. The facility is beautiful, but it has one major flaw. If you try to stand on the side you enter from, you can't see a damn thing. The monster pillars at the top of every stairway block your view. They are nice looking though.

Oh, and BTW, don't get directions from MapQuest. It brings you to the DE high school on the wrong side of town.

First of all, why wasn't Mrs. Bodyshots in control of the map? And second, how come I used Mapquest, it brought me to a place called Saratoga in Duluth???

Duluth is definitely my favorite non-metro city.

Those pillars were one of the first features which struck me. I'm sure there is a structural reason for it, but it really does limit visibility on that side. Gotta get over on the side near the mural of the Big Four and watch it. Standing above the railing is a very nice spot.

Overall they did an excellent job with the Heritage and it's something Duluth can and should be proud of. Even if it wasn't built in 55804

haha anyway on the game east needs to stay focused and play east hockey. Moorhead is a team you dont want to let them control the game. Stay out of the box and play good goaltending I see east winning..

I caught the majority of the game on internet radio. It was pretty entertaining; the game was closer than the shot count suggests, though East did have more chances. Seemed like a well-fought game between two quality teams; I liked hearing East continue to roll all its lines, and Moorhead did what they needed to, with Marks and Rahman standing out, so far as I could tell.

Very close game. I was very impressed with the play of the D, they really stepped up. Jojo made a few great point blank saves, and although they only had 17 shots or so, they were all good shots. I felt East shouldve won, as a Spud took a shot, Jojo stopped it between his legs, out of view of the ref, and then like the Wayzata game he was just bowled over and the puck trickled in. Ref also laid a hard body check to Brazerol before the buzzer sounded at the end of regulation. Officiating for both sides of the puck was spotty at best. I have to say I'm pretty pleased with the outcome overall.

I wasn't able to listen to this one since I was at work, but just going by the shot totals I have to think the Spuds were lucky to get a tie and the Hounds are disappointed with it.

Honestly, I was expecting a loss for the Spuds. I can't remember the last time they won in Duluth.

Karl, I know you said the game sounded closer than the shot totals suggest, I'm just wondering how so? A 2-to-1 margin in shots sounds pretty dominating.

While the shots were 2-1, I would hazard to guess that quality chances were more along the lines of 3-2 East. Moorhead made more of their shots than East did (and it's not uncommon for East to outshoot an opponent by a lot yet have a much closer score). They had some great sustained pressure towards the ends of the periods, particularly the 1st and 3rd if I remember correctly.

A win would have been nice, but I'm not overly disappointed in the result.
