Lee and Mitch... maybe this deserves a sticky, because I can't believe anyone can argue against this.
Let's makes this thread a step or petition to pressure Channel 45 into starting to broadcast a Saturday night game.
If they can do production of Twins telecasts, then it should be easy enough to carry High School games. They don't need 85 cameras or high priced announcers. They can get their advertisers like Stauber, Warner's Stellian, etc. to jump on this.
I would love to be able to watch Edina vs Eden Prairie tonight.

Let's get Channel 45 on board.

Would never work. If they did one hockey game a week, then a lot of people would complain that it's not fair. They would want a game a week of the other sports that channel 45 covers for the State Tournaments - such as girls' hockey, boys and girls' basketball and football.Goldfishdude wrote:Lee and Mitch... maybe this deserves a sticky, because I can't believe anyone can argue against this.

Hmmmm.. How many basketball games does FSN carry?? They will carry a few football games, but this isn't about what's good for the MSHSL, good for girls hockey, volleyball, football etc.. It's about making money. If FSN call sell advertising to cover its production cost, then it merits looking into.wbmd wrote:Would never work. All Channel 45 has to say is a Edina vs Eden Prairie, Wayzata v Minnetonka, Hill vs WBL, Duluth v any metro team, would make more money for them than any other sport. Am I wrong? This isn't about fairness or equality. It's giving viewers what they want.
We're the state of hockey..... not basketball... Plus, wbmd, I would be curious as to the TV ratings of the other sports.
Re: Let's get Channel 45 on board.
Yea I don't see why that would be a problem at all. Who in the hell cares if parents complain to the network about "fair" coverage of games? Ch. 45 has absolutly ZERO obligation to broadcast any of those events and if they wanted to do hockey and no other sports there is really nothing stopping them.wbmd wrote:Would never work. They ONLY stipulation is they pay for the broadcast rights to all the tourneys. I do not know how much governing the MSHSL has for random games, whether it's Hastings radio network, or if FSN makes a contribution to the MSHSL.HockeyMN1 wrote:Yea I don't see why that would be a problem at all. But if the MSHSL allows for 100% obligation onto Channel 45 to cover all its expenses, it could be done.
