Nice work, although I was surprised to see that Mac Jansen wasn't included with Wahlin and Birkinbine.

Don't mean to sound arrogant, but EP should have at least 8 on this list. You gotta put Luc Gerdes (off to a huge start this year) and Mark Rath on there. Besides Leddy, these kids were the core of a big school state championship team as SOPHOMORES last year and have only gotten better and learned to not rely on a first rounder so much.
EP two out of three.

Curious as to the source of these names as this is a very mediocre representation of the top 75 Juniors... ?

Looks like they should re-title the article: "a few of the top hockey players in the state and a bunch of nice kids from as many schools as we could fit on the page" rather than the best 75 Juniors in the state. Missed a BUNCH of kids... Looks more like a strategy to represent as many schools as possible and it may makes sense from that point of view.... About 35-40% don't belong on the list and that many are missing IMHO... and some notables at that... They are missing kids from some of the top lines in some of the top ranked teams in the state yet other names are included that wouldn't make those teams...

Don't think they will sell too many copies of this issue if the rest of the content is as credible as this list...

Come up with those 25-30 missing names and your credibility will be much higher.

Any list of "top players" such as this is going to miss kids that some feel should be in and others feel should not be. That's the nature of an arbitrary cut-off such as "Top 75" and would be the same whether it was "Top 100" or even "Top 200."

This will also start up the discussion again of whether the top player at a school such as say, Waseca, is as good as the say, 8th junior from Eden Prairie. And to play devil's advocate, whether a hockey book featuring a dozen players from EP, STA, AHA, etc. and nobody from outside the Metro area shy of the traditional powers is an "inclusive and extensive" preview of the hockey season.

Of course the list is lacking, sometimes I wonder if it's more who's being promoted over who is really good.

As for the Waseca comment, it always brings to mind Ryan Hoehn who went from Waseca to the USHL to being a top player at St. Thomas. No one wanted to believe a kid from Waseca could be any good, after all he played for Waseca.

I know the default belief for lists like this is to assume that it is comprised of kids that are being heavily pushed by programs/parents/coaches/etc...the level of politics, paranoia and parochialism in hockey being what it is. But from the inside knowledge of the composition of this list over the summer, I can definitely assure you that is not the case in this instance.
