For those of us waaaaay down South here, this looks like a very wide open year for section 1A. Should be fun to watch. But times may be changing.
The top teams don't look as dominant as they did last year (or else the also rans have done a lot of catching up). Last night East had New Prague down 3-1, but ended up losing 6-4; the score was 13-0 NP last year. Lourdes tied Owatonna (last year, it was 8-3 Lourdes). Red Wing already has two losses, and Albert Lea needed OT to beat Waseca. Faribault looks like a possible favorite, but there's no denying that compared to last year, there are far more teams in the mix.
How will they finish? Post it. For instance . . .
1. Fairbault
2. Lourdes
3. New Prague
4. Albert Lea
5. East
6. Red Wing
7. West
8. Waseca
9. Northfield
10. La Crescent
11. Austin
Admit it - Section1A looks wide open

Faribault will take this section. Lourdes and RedWing will put up the most roadblocks but they will have to get better than they are now to do it. Nobody else should beat these other teams. I think it will be this way.

Re: Admit it - Section1A looks wide open
East actually had a chance to take control of the game in the middle of the 2nd, already up 3-1. They had just entered the NP zone with a 3 on 2 and a good chance to score, when completely away from the play, back @ the East end, the East goalie got called for interference on a lone NP skater coming by the net. NP scored on the ensuing PP, then added 1 more to end the 2nd tied 3-3. That penalty completely turned the momentum. I'm not sure the call was justified, but I'll bet the East goalie regrets it now and will learn to avoid those situations in the future. NP is down this year & East is better than last year. Also Holy Family Catholic might be a pretty good team. They beat JM 6-0. East lost to HFC 5-3.OU812 wrote:For those of us waaaaay down South here, this looks like a very wide open year for section 1A. Should be fun to watch. But times may be changing.
