And by build up I assume you mean;

A) Private VS Public fights.
B) Recruiting talk.
C) Talking about how much White Bears Coaching sucks.
D) An inevitable lock on this thread.

This is as good of humor as our beloved Oso Blanco, or whatever his name was, used to provide.

Karl and Mitch???? How about we let ol' Goldfishdude moderate this forum before I say we can lock this thread??

After watching the entire Hill-Murray JV play and varsity play for two periods vs Burnsville, I will not make any comments on this game, other than...........

"I might be inclined to stay home and watch the FSN feed with a bag over my head, kinda like what they do for the Detroit NFL team."

Let this be bulletin board material for the Bears.

Prove me wrong, Bears!!

Lee's the one who's the moderator, not me. I'm just another East fan with a ton of posts.

As for the game, anyone want to offer an over-under on the number of posts this thread goes before each of wblhockeyfan8's scenarios occur? I'll give the winners a shoutout in the weekly rankings.

It's going to take 5 posts before someone makes a public/private reference, 14 posts before someone makes a recruiting reference, 22 posts before someone brings up how bad WBL coaching is, and 40 before we shut her down.

That's my second error today, alone... I can't chew gum and be on the forum at the same time. :oops: Lee has been awfully quiet lately.. I like your take, though, Karl.... I will put my guess at 26 posts to complete the quartet!!!

HM - WBL

Post by stpaul »

It seems too early to be talking about this game. It's still 16 days away. (HM 10 straight!) Hill-Murray has Duluth Marshall, Benilde and SSP to play before WBL. WBL has Hastings and a trip north to Duluth East & Cloquet before they play HM. (HM has ended WBL's season 4 straight years at the Coliseum.) So let's hold off on the predictions and smack talk for a while.

Lee is awfully quiet most days. He just sits out in the hallway monitoring stuff. You think you miss a lot? Should see what Lee misses. Most stuff is off his radar. Until it's not. Image

We'll say since I posted the challenge. Though that does mean your first prediction is already wrong, the other ones are still standing.

I suppose this game will be very easy to cheat on, as a person could make a prediction and then go ranting about A thru C at the necessary point in time.

Lee could really cause problems, since he can do all four at once.

Well then i guess i will start the chatter. As most of the readers know i am not a big fan of hill. I will give credit to where credit is due however. I respect the team for picking themselves up after last years incident and making it to state however this is a brand new year and although the season is very young they have not impressed me with any of the scrimmages. Now that is not to say that they won't but at this point i would put them in the overrated category. Just my opinion. I would say last year, from watching WBL, it was the best squad they had to make a run at sections and go to state. But like i said earlier it is a brand new year. This game is a statement game. If WBL either ties, loses by one, or wins :shock: then that is making a big statement, not only to section 4AA teams but the suburban east teams as well. I always love a great public vs. private game :lol: but enough of my rant. My prediction is 5-3 Hill Murray. White Bear skates hard the whole game and Hill will get it's fifth goal on an empty net.

Let the criticism of my opinion begin!

Means nothing until WBL puts the Whole team on the ice. Just a Feel Good game for Hill fans, they again will over-look the obvious.

Gjede = out
Hauswirth = out (looks like he played vs Century)
Birkebine = out

but it is a week or two away.

Unfortunately, this game has almost become just another game on Hill's schedule. When 1 team beats their rival 10 straight times, it tends to lose a little of the passion. Both of these teams will finish towards the top of their conferences again this year. These two teams have basically owned their section, and I suspect, one of these two will again advance to state this year. The regular season match up is great for the players to play in front of nice crowd & TV cameras, but the real fun comes at the end of the year. The best thing about this rivalry, is the respect both programs have for each other. The intensity remains in the rink and doesn't boil out into the parking lot. Sooner or later, WB is gonna beat HM, and if it's gonna happen this year, I hope it happens sooner than later. Or better yet, another 10 straight would be fine by me. :wink: [/b]

While that argument is brought up every time anything happens ever, it's still a rivalry.

We share the same rink, so there's that. But most of all the student sections come into play where the record leaves off. WBL and Hill students just have a general dislike for each other. But only when spekaing as a whole of course, I know lots of awesome kids from Hill and im sure the same would go for them, but when some one brings up Hill-Murray, I can't help but scream "I hate everyone from Hill!" :D

Same dude, same.

It isn't uncommon to hear random "We Hate White Bear" *clap*clap*clap*clap*clap chants when walking around on a regular school day at Hill. And anytime I walk into anyone I know from WB, we almost instantly start screaming at each other about whether on not the net was off last year.

Oh well - let's make it 11 staright!

Oh yes, the old net was off argument.

Every single day of my life we discuss this!

"Remember when we beat Hill?"

EDIT: We didn't.

loosing two senior goaltenders last year. just what i heard from a father of a white bear player, works with me. he said "they looked looked strong offensively, but i'm not sure about the tenders." maybe just an assumption I made. But he also added that the Hill Murray back up last year played AAA in Wisconsin and came back, Basil something i think his name is, hes awaiting approval from the MSHSL to play. He said he looked much stronger than the other too in their pre season scrimmages in Elk River. But he is not practicing with team currently until he is approved, if he is at all. Not bashing on white bear at all, maybe i'm wrong, but both goaltenders had 0 varsity experiece. Looks like both goals split the Rochester Century game. 3 goals on 24 shots, we'll see how they play against a stronger team
