any update on the hill vs. cretin scrimmage?
leo: nice response on the other thread, i'm a hill fan BUT didn't two or three of the four kids kicked off last year immediately bolt and leave the "roman catholic" rhetoric behind - for??? hockey! Sorry, i don't like to get negative on these boards, but when religion is used as an excuse for all the family's when at least half are there for 1 thing? hockey. and duke pieper had to drive past how many catholic schools to get there from edina? and there are several non catholics on the squad at any given time. (ps hope duke's doing well, haven't heard lately, anyone??? good kid). Proof is in those departures, and others.
Hey, even a hm supporter like me can't support that argument. no doubt many send them for the right reason but don't defend the masses when the masses don't all go to mass. Half that team at least IS there for hockey. I know many parents that say "if so and so doesn't make it... blah blah we're transferring". heard it several times again this year.
go pioneers, anyway!

Yea, any score? soo many rabid pioneers here but none posting the score?? hmm did the raiders clean up even without mr alt??
Now that's about the first honest admission i've read here from HM. Kudo's!! I don't care why they go there, but to not admit its hockey for quite a few of them is always good for a few laughs. Glad there's a voice of reason over on the other side of aldrich. look forward to whuppin ya this year.

Hill-Murray
Of course families send their kids to Hill-Murray for hockey. Thank God they do. That's why so many good players are there and why they are a winner. Who denies that? Who denies that some leave when they don't make the team? I also don't care. We live in a free society. Families send kids, and pay $10G per year, to HM for lots of reasons. It's a great school. HShockeyz would apparently prefer a system where we, especially hockey players, are mandated to attend and play only for the local public school. If they don't they are a "transfer" and boy do we hate those "transfers". I think the Soviet Union mandated what school kids went to.

Misunderstood
I do believe I did say that SOME kids do go to Hill simply for hockey, but the point was that the great majority of students at Hill are not there for hockey. Two of the four kids STAYED at Hill throughout the remainder of their senior years. This was a decision by their parents to keep them in school and graduate, or at least attempt to graduate. The fact that Hill is a catholic school and 20% of their students do not come from a catholic background only proves that their are parents who choose to send their kids for the values, whether perceived or real, but this is not for me to decide. There are several young men in the Hill hockey program that are more talented in other sports, i.e. Bruchu who is an outstanding football and baseball player, and they did not attend Hill only for hockey. Fairness in conversation leads me to the conclusion that yes, Hill draws many kids because of Hockey, but that is only one factor at play. Duke Pieper (who should be in all of our thoughts and prayers), attended Shattuck prior to Hill, and if he only came to Hill for Hockey, why not just go to Edina, where he lived? There has to be something more to it that then the rubber disc.

Duke Pieper said he went to hill because he knew he wouldnt make varsity at edina as a freshman. Besides that how many catholic high schools do you think he had to pass on his way to school from edina to hill. Its quite obvious he went to hill for one reason only... hockey
Re: Hill-Murray
Sorry to disappoint, I love recruits and transfers and wish more would do it. Let them play is what I say. I just get annoyed hearing one or two HM fans talk about the Catholic school blah blah... might be true for those that get cut, but the better they are the more likely they are to leave simply for hockey. So the best aren't really there for the school. Last year when faced with decision half left. So tell me how its all about the school and religion again...
