As far as I'm concerned there are really only three teams in this race.
Hermantown lost their first line right winger in Kurt Peterson and first liner Huttel. They also lost a few D and their starting goalie who was nothing to write home about. However they return lots of scoring in Christopherson, Krause, Perrault, Kantonen, Corey Kolquist and Comnick. They also have some good D returning in Paczinski(sp?), LeBlanc, Jared Kolquist and Bannor.
SCC lost their three top D in Schmidt, Nessler, and Rowe as well as their first line center and right wing. Also a few others like a 5th D and a two third liners. But they return forwards like Palusky, Kudak, Koopmeiners, and McMorrow who were all in double digits last season and three other good D who saw significant Varsity time last year as well as three-year starting goalie Nick Maiers.
Denfeld lost their top few D, Messina their goalie and Cody Hotchkin their star forward. With the transfer of Judd Peterson to Marshall I expect this to be somewhat of a rebuilding tear for Denfeld.
My predictions are that Hermantown and SCC will both be strong and very well matched teams with Hermantown starting off strongearly in the season. But in the end I feel that goaltending will be the difference between these two teams and thats where SCC has a sizeable edge. Coach Johnson will have SCC playing their best hockey come tourney time but up against stiff competition. Should be an entertaining section to watch.
