Can they compete?

Of course they can, they play in the North Suburban. Non-Conference and Sections may be a different story.

They should be solid again this year. They don't have a superstar like they did last year with Delisle but they return a lot of talent. Question will be goaltending. Saw Cullen play a little bit last year and wasn't impressed at all. They should see some solid competition from benilde, st louis park, and spring lake park in their conference too.

agreed goaltending will be key cullen is going to have to be a qulaity goalie. and they have to play the right kind of hockey and use their size this year!

If you are talking about Davidowski, he is a pretty good goalie. ( I am not his dad). He may not start the season out as the #1 goalie, but has the potential to move up throughout the year.

I don't usually agree with Flatontheice, but I don't think he was saying that anyone was his dad.

in re to who de they have? what do you mean? who can play or good defnse? All i Know is they should be senior heavy and I know that they have some size.

you dont know need superstars in highschool hockey as this team doesnt have any but they do have a lot of kids who skate hard and I think they can compete with any1 if they can get good goaltending. Offensively they should be better than last year, loosing deslile hurts but they also skated some seniors last year who didnt do anything. this senior class is way better!!!!

School was called Fridley Grace until I think the 1980s. the Totino family (yes, the frozen pizza family whose empire started with a restaurant in nordeast minneapolis) donated a bunch of money to the school, which changed its name to show their gratitude

I don't usually like to talk about individual players, but I am curious to know if Alex Jaros will have any impact with TG this year.

He left the WBL program after bantams. He was always a bubble kid for A teams , but the kid was physically a freak. I used to call him Super Mario, because he was always one of the largest kids on the ice, and reminded me physically of Mario Lemieux.

I don't think he made varsity last year. He was always just a step slow, but has skills. I am not even sure if he still plays hockey.

Yes.. we were in the Don Bosco conference at that time, made up of the lesser private schools... St. Bernard's, St. Agnes, etc... I graduated in '81, and I want to say it was either '81 or '82 when it converted. If I remember correctly, it was like $1 mill dollar donation - which at that time - was significant.

I cant see totino grace being a tough competitior this year, they lost Delisle and Olsen, and a couple solid defenders in Novitski(spelling?) and another kid cant remember his name. but they do have a cpl kids coming up that were freshmen/soph last year that were farely decent players that might move up, TG's goalie will be below average at best. I remember watching him this year whe Olsen was out and just was amazed on how this kid was TG's back up. we'll see though. Benilde Spring Lake Park and St.francis(depending on Benik staying or not) will probably all beat TG this year. Benilde is enough said. Park lost a couple solid players but have a wave of seniors I believe. A couple names i remember were Auman(spelling?) who was a freshmen last year and was on the ushl scouting report, and benson, big defender who will need to step up this season. right now i just dont see TG being much of a topic to talk about

I'm not so sure that St. Francis is going to be a big challenge for Totino. St Francis may be able to match Totinos talent with their first line but as a team they won't be able to match Totino's depth. The conference should be close this year with Totino, SLP, and Benilde at the top. St. Louis Park, Irondale, and St. Francis should also be decent.

On a side note, what can anybody on here tell me about the new freshmen transfer from Coon rapids? The old CR coach's kid?

hmmm referring to kids names from last year means nothing! They didnt loose many seniors, and are senior heavy this year. their dfense will be solid and if they can play well on offense they will win some games. No way spring lake park or sanit louis park, or saint francis does anything to them! Not sure who roo or jaros is? but if they kept all their retruning players they should compete for first with mathomedi, and benilde!
