How many Associations are fielding a U12 A team?
In D10 we have seen a dramatic drop off at the U12 A level for teams. Last year we had 15 and it looks like this year we might end up with 8. Maybe even 7. I know that part of the reason for this is D5 is fielding 5 A teams so they are not allowed to waive into D10 for this year. So the Question is how many U12 A teams are there going to be state wide.

Hard to believe, but it appears that D2 will actually have two more U12A teams this year (7) than they had last year (5). Below is a list of the D2 assocations playing U12A based on my understanding of the team declarations:
Mounds View
Forest Lake (U12A only; no U12 B)
Stillwater
Mahtomedi
North St. Paul - assuming they have enough players to field a team, last I heard they were looking for more players (U12A only; no U12B)
Roseville
White Bear Lake
Last year Forest Lake & Mahtomedi played U12B only (along with Tartan, who will be doing the same this year) but FL & Maht have apparently opted to field a U12A team this year.
I'm not sure if there will be a D1/D2/D3 co-op league at U12A again this year...don't know what D3 looks like, my guess is that it may be D1 (Highland-Central, Irondale, Minneapolis Park Storm) & D2 only with 10 teams total.

Without the super strong D3 teams in the league Highland and Stillwater will be the D1/D2 teams to beat.
White Bear Lake girls hockey imploding?
Is Forest Lake really abandoning their relationship with Chisago Lakes? or are they playing together in D2 under the FL name this year? May explain why D10 is losing an A team.
Tartan is playing U10A hockey this year. The Titans were arguably the best team 12B in D2 last season and should play 12A now that Mahtomedi and FL are fielding teams.
Mahtomedi really?? About time Mahtomedi goes A.
All that said Edina will win 12A State - again

District 8 will have 12UA teams from Cottage Grove, Eagan, Farmington, Hastings, Inver Grove?, Lakeville(2), Rochester, Rosemount/Eastview, Sibley Area and Woodbury.
12UB teams from: Cottage Grove, Eagan, Farmington, Hastings, Hudson, Lakeville(2), Northfield, Red Wing, River Falls, Rochester, Rosemount/Eastview (2), Sibley Area South St Paul and Woodbury(2).

Add New Prague to that list. My understanding is that District 8 agreed to let them in as they are the only 12UA team in District 4.Mac15 wrote:District 8 will have 12UA teams from Cottage Grove, Eagan, Farmington, Hastings, Inver Grove?, Lakeville(2), Rochester, Rosemount/Eastview, Sibley Area and Woodbury.

My fault...apparently Forest Lake will have both a 12UA and a 12UB team. I had heard that they're NOT co-oping with Chisago Lakes this year, but I'm not exactly sure. I'd be a bit surprised if FL had the numbers to field two 12U teams on their own for this year.MinnGirlsHockey wrote:Below is a list of the D2 assocations playing U12A based on my understanding of the team declarations:

Armstrong-Cooper was added to the D1/D2 12UA co-op league (hosted by D2) so there will be 11 teams total with 20 league games per team. Not sure why A-C was split out from the other D3 teams, maybe it has something to do with the recent St. Louis Park girls split from A-C (apparently there are no longer any "PAC" teams and StLP girls can now play under Mpls. Park Storm?) or just to balance the number of teams in each league. If anyone has further info to share on this, please do.MinnGirlsHockey wrote:I'm not sure if there will be a D1/D2/D3 co-op league at U12A again this year...don't know what D3 looks like, my guess is that it may be D1 (Highland-Central, Irondale, Minneapolis Park Storm) & D2 only with 10 teams total.

Slight correction, last year (2009-2010) both Mahtomedi and Forest Lake had 12UA teams, I believe Forest Lake did have a couple of Chisago girls on their 12UA team.MinnGirlsHockey wrote:

District 3:
A total of 6 - 12UA teams:
Wayzata
Osseo/Maple Grove
Orono
Mound/Westonka
Hopkins/Armstrong Cooper
Storm
I don't think North Metro is fielding a 12UA team, they haven't the last few years. I heard that the Crow River girls are with the Mound/Westonka team, but I could be wrong. I have not heard if Washburn will field a team, or if they are playing with the Storm (SLP/Southwest/Wasburn)??

I was actually referring to 2008-09 when I mentioned "last year" in that quote -- you'll notice that post was from Sep 28, 2009.hockeyfan87 wrote:Slight correction, last year (2009-2010) both Mahtomedi and Forest Lake had 12UA teams, I believe Forest Lake did have a couple of Chisago girls on their 12UA team.MinnGirlsHockey wrote:

Sorry, I just resurrected an old thread for 2010-11....
