Northernlaker....
My understanding is that East PWA will be getting goalies from the Lakers this year to help fill out their teams. Not positive on how it will work, but I believe each association will get their top 2 goalies after evaluations, then the rest go in a pool and spots can be offered to them for the 2nd PWA team East is forming. So, they could very well end up with the Lakers 3 and 4 goalies, which will of course hurt the Lakers B1 teams. I know the Lakers have 9 goalies, with 5 being 2nd year players and 2 of those are returners from last year's A team.
Should be interesting to see how it all works out.

I believe it is just one association with teams being drawn from different parts of the city.CreaseMonkey wrote:Northernlaker....

You are correct, the East and Laker teams are part of DAHA, and technically one. The only place players cross over however is goalies. I know they have also combined up to fill out B2 rosters, but otherwise skaters do not move between the two, no matter how strong or weak a team is. That is what I meant by each association. There are 2 separate hockey boards and they are independent of each other.
While the Lakers have a bunch of goalies at PeeWee, I believe it is the opposite for Bantams, so there will be East goalies coming West to help fill out those roster spots too. Should be fine as long as there are enough teams for all the goalies between the two.

Just a clarification - The idea for (2) A teams did not come from DAHA - To my understanding this is a East End hockey idea in response to the "only B hockey" at peewee & bantams. Seems they don't believe there should be 3 B teams split equally and that is how it will be done in duluth. This idea has also not come to the full DAHA board for approval yet. Also, registration hasn't started and tryouts are still 3+ weeks away - seems like the cart is before the horse on this one. If large associations field one A team with 150+ players, Duluth East having 2 with 55 kids? Looks like a recipe for disaster to me.
