Not impressed with Elite II. Not sure I see the benefits to the kids and I haven't heard many favorable comments about the experience but no first hand experience. Didn't help the kids I know that played though.

Two years ago, it was great. Last year, in my opinion, not so much. The look of the league seems to have changed this year with the addition of some more teams and appears to be on track with their mission which is to provide some solid competition for the younger players. I believe that both years my kid played that the league did have some pretty good players and provided a good fall league to get their legs going for the high school season. I would bet that many of the players would agree.

Having one that played Elite II,then Elite I last year, I believe that the league is beneficial to the younger players. Last years graduating class was pretty loaded with top caliber players and many of them played Elite II 2 and 3 years ago and followed them all the way to last years Elite I. The league does provide a chance for younger kids to play against some good competition but seems that the caliber of players is down some what.
For those that didn't make the Elite I league they get a chance to play against a number of players from all around the state and that is the idea of the league. Will be looking forward to learning names of kids from the different sections and following them up the ranks as they develop.

Looks like a great chance to play against players you normally wouldn't play against. The cost, though, is pretty significant. Many families, especially right now, may not be able to make it work. Looks like there's a bit of travel/hotel expense too. Each player pays $575. That works out to about $30 per player per game, with uniform costs.

My son played his sophomore year and WE had a good time. He is now graduated so our experience was three years ago. He can now say he played on a team with the Wilds 2009 first round draft pick.

He got injury half way through hie Elite II experience and that injury bothered and hindered his play for the his entire varsity season.

If I remember correctly last year they were heavily team "Moorhead". Looks like 11 this year. How did they do last year?

Tryout fee + league fee+ travel & hotel fee = alot of money for a few games. Needless to say 4 full lines and little ice time in the games you do dress for. My son played last year and HE figured money better spent on personal trainning.

Your son figured that? Most kids just love to be able to play the game and these teams have a lot of very good hockey players. Good players, good hockey and fun environment; seems amazing that a kid would rather do personal training then play the game. As far as the cost is concerned, it is a little expensive but then again, I've seen people spending thousand's of dollars so their squirt can be on a AAA team that has a cool jersey and plays fewer games then this. When my son played in the Elite II league he had a lot of fun and it helped him get ready for the regular season. It seemed worthwhile to me.

low player turnout at the Northwest tryout created the need for either allowing more seniors or not having a team. Pretty logical decision to allow things to move forward rather than penalize all the interested players there by not having a team. I understand player turnout was an issue in all 3 north teams. Again, better to expand the player allowances rather than call the teams off.
