Wondering what your opinions are on bringing in a ringer to a tournament. I saw a game this weekend that was pretty lopsided. At the end it was 21 to 3. Another one today ended 16 to 4. Of the 37 goals scored in those games about 25 of them were scored by one kid.

IMO...I think you need to slow down, and start to just watch the game or games that are all the game within the game...You have a lot of questions and you need to remember you are involved in what will hopefully be a life journey...I have seen many posts by you that make it very obvious to many that you are new to this world.

Your lasted post (this one) is yet another part of the game. I am not taking a run at you however I have seen enough posts that prove that you are nieve to the game. Call in political, call it injustice, call it unfair...The sooner you realize you have little contrlol over what happens the sooner you will be able to disengage from all of the BS and just watch for the smile on your kid's face. The most important thing should be is your kid having fun, did he/she get hurt by actions of parents or coaches? If not, deal with it..There are so many things that go on behind the scenes, the players are clueless to it until they hear it from an adult.

It depends what kind of tournament you are talking about: open or invite? Typically, there is no such thing as a "ringer" at an invite tournament because ALL the players SHOULD be capable of playing at the highest level. There is a little more controvesy around the open level tournaments, however. Personally, I don't like to see ringers brought in, because it generally makes a mockery out of the classification of "open". It's like bringing in an "A" level softball player into a "D" level softball tournament. It's called "sandbagging" and is HIGHLY looked down upon.

Was this, by chance, a 3 on 3 game? You often see scores like this in 3 on 3 games at the very young levels. It is not usually due to ringers, but the simple fact that they do not generally segment the young ages by talent so teams with a few good players or teams that are especially deep can dominate.

I know sunglasses but the guy is way, way too naive to be boogeyman, et all (but m&g may be another story). Check out all the threads he's started beginning with painting hockey helmets. It says it all and hipztech is right.

I respect the fact he wants to understand the youth hockey world to help his kid navigate it, but he should content himself with just reading the posts and learning from others (I very politely offered him that advise in a pm very early in his posting career). He's way too new to the game to be offering so very many opinions. I'm sure he's a nice enough guy, but if his oldest player is only 5 and he's this intense already, Webster will have to come up with a new word for "over the top hockey dad". He's already signed up with the master and the Choice league so at least he'll find friends that think like he does. Hope MM doesn't fold financially prior to the season though.

I finally realized how naive I am. I guess I really don't have control over what happens. I think I am going to slow down and start to just watch the game.

i believe in MN Hockey if your association does not have a A team, a player can request a waiver to another association that does have a A team.
