…when Rink #3 freezes over

Post by Haute hockeymom »

According to 7300 Bush Lake Rd:

Machine, Blades, Easton players are forming a league at MN Made called “Minnesota Premier League”.

Is it true – Machine, Blades and Easton players drafted from a Pool and playing side-by-side throughout the Summer. One big happy Alliance.

Do the Blades know about this?

Funny, like a bowling alley starting leagues to keep the lanes occupied.

Problem is spring hockey ended this last weekend and doesn't start again until fall hockey in August. But, of course, that's why the idea to start a summer league, when these teams historically actually shut down, was dreamt up. June and July are usually spent on development. Unfortunate because additional pressure is going to be put on the families (baseball, lacrosse, soccer, golf, cabins, etc.) to keep rocking through June and July. Bad news unless you have an empty rink to fill.

Where do we sign up. Don't want to be left behind.

Mn Made has been running the Premier league at the 91,92, 93, 94 levels for the last 2 years and it has been very successful. They are just running it now for some of the younger levels. Like any business they will offer programs that they feel thier customers want.

The real question is what is your agenda? The Super Rink and Showcase run all kinds of leagues in the fall and you are not jumping on their back. It's clear that you have a problem with Mn Made. Did your kid get cut from one of there teams or did one of their team beat your kids team.

If you don't like them don't sakte with them. It's just that easy. This is not even a sign up league. Players have to be asked to play. Mn Made and the Blades have a pretty good relationship at both 99 and 98 levels. If they play some 4 on 4 what do you care?

What Investors?

Bricks and Mortar are owned by Palm not MM. The only thing MM owns are the minds of the Parents.

When the Blades and Easton don't register it will be open to all - just like all of the previous "Machine Only" Clinics.

Minnesota Made and any other other hockey organization is the result of someone having organizational skills, hockey knowledge and guts to go out and do it. They offer a service for our kids to be on a team , better their skills, meet other kids they would have never met and several other great experiences.

If everyone was like me and the majority of "you" our kids wouldn't be on summer teams and there would be no tournaments in the summer. Even if it costs more to be on Team "X" or to play in tournament "Z" and they have a gate fee and all the other gripes we all have- dont do it. Its our choice if our kids can play on any team (financially)- if you feel it costs to much don't do it- but dont complain that someone is out to make a buck - we are all out to make a buck- thats why we work.

I have never been involved on a MM team but I certaily don't critize them for trying to make money. I always thought it was simple economics- if they charge too much than someone else will step in and do it for less- if not than we can all do nothing (like me) and none of our kids will play on these summer teams.
