Top 97 Players

I used to think the same thing. But I got a snout full of bantams this season. It's a whole different game once the boys hit puberty. Attitudes are different, space on the ice is at a premium and all of sudden the quick little nifty kids aren't so quick and nifty.

Not to say little dudes can't excel but holy cow, I don't remember broken arms, tore up knees and sperated shoulders when I played bantams. It's a different age...

Half of your 97's played squirts last year. Way too early to tell.

As the boys grow and get stronger and faster, your smaller, better kids (from squirts and pee wees) start to come back to the pack.

It may be fun to banter about sure, but check back when the 97's are 1st & 2nd year banatms and you'll start to see the pecking order become more clear.

You don't have to wait til Bantams to see that kids like Rem that dominate as first year peewees are most likely going to be good players later on .. any kid that can make that jump and compete at the top level is worth talking about. Although size does matter if you can't hit what you can't catch and they are smart players they will be good at any level.

Beware of the big guy who can catch the little Guy and the guy you talk of is not little he is TINY.

I remember a kid named Toby Peterson... same attributes and same things were said about him.. I believe he is a servicable Pro player still..good fodder for discussion. but the special kids rarely fade as everyone hopes...

You sound bitter hockeymama323, you should have your child try out for a top Minnesota AAA team or just enjoy where you are playing. There is plenty of top North American hockey talent right here in Minnesota.

I am not bitter. I know there is a lot of hockey talent in Minnesota but there is also alot of hockey talent in Northwestern Ontario. Take a look at the 98 Bulldogs roster........They made it to the championship after only playing and practicing together twice
