Who's going to make the 54 who go on on the advanced 17

Post by Hockey Fan »

Just wondering if anyone has any guesses as to who will go on in the advanced 16 and 17 year olds?

Husky where did you get that as I went to the site and cannot find it and when I clicked on the link it worked initially but now doesn't could it be that this was not the final list.

I hope not I was hoping our goalie Aaron Dooley would move on he only let in 2 goals and stopped 7 or 8 shoot out shots and breakaways and had shutouts in the last two games in his half.

I think they made a change to the document and put it back out there under a different name .... here is the new one that is out there on the Minnesota Hockey Website (In the NEWS section - click on "Advance 17 Boys Roster").

The ones left up there were surprises to me. Where's Lutzka and Christenson from Sec. 7? Both deserved it. How about the goalie (Dooley?) from Sec. 1? Easily one of the tops in the tourney.
Just an observation.

Why no brainers? Because they've been on lists before?
Isn't it supposed to be about how players looked last weekend?
I saw good and bad flashes of just about everyone out there. I would not want to be an evaluator.
There are a few suprises to me too, like how does someone make it after skating in only one game...

Sioux Fan we were hoping your goalie Aaron Dooley made the final 54 he definatly deserved the opportunity! . He plays with a lot of heart true hockey player and directed his team putting them in position and yelling out directions. your team played better when he was in the net.
I watched about 5 games and I was impressed how comfortable Dooley was in the net. His shoot out was impressive. It's a true misfortune that he didn't make the cut.

I agree both Nick Heimer and he played well it was more of a case of our forwards not scoring and it is a problem everywhere.

No Dooley didn't get picked because he's from Austin, MN......Zero respect for Section One again. The kid let's in two goals the whole tourney.....It's BS

Yes definately some players missing that were previously mentioned. Very surprised Noah Gavin didn't make it. Didn't watch him much this weekend but he's a good hockey player no question.

There are players missing, but I also don't see any glaring holes. As expected and as usual, a very talented group of players and all should be very proud of themselves.
Stay Classy, Minnesota.

Think PapaG nailed it. The "Final 54" is clearly a very talented group of kids who should be extremely proud of themselves to have reached this level of acknowledgement in Minnesota High School hockey. They are in the rarefied air of the top 50 in their age group in "the state of hockey" ... and they should be proud of not only their hard work and sacrifice... but as many in Minnesota know they should step back and take a moment to acknowledge the hard work and sacrifice of their parents, family, and coaches who have supported them and helped acheive this memory...

There are always disappointments. I would hate to be in a position to decide the last 5 kids on the bubbble for any position on any team. I don't envy the evaluators job in making these tough decisions. However, nothing on the 17 list leads me to beleive there was anything approaching significant malice, politics or unfairness. In the end one often learns little from success and a great deal from disppointment. All the kids who made the festival should interpret not making the "Final 54" as an opportunity and not as a message of failure. Anyone on that festival list has the opportunity to move ahead in their hockey careers if they have the desire, discipline and most of all perseverance to do something with their current disappointment... Remember, in two weeks there will be 30 more disappointments and 8 weeks after that thier will be 24 disappointments... disappointment is not an end for the truly great but rather a beginning... :D

Congrats to the FINAL 54.
