Leave It To Beaver wrote:I posted this on the Section 4A??? thread and thought it would be a nice response to the "beat up on Totino" comment. SLP will return several key players, but I do not see any of them stepping in as the leading scorer, which is one player that will not be returning for them next year.

I watched the SLP/Totino-Grace game and I would say that Totino was out scored by SLP not necessarily out played or pounded by SLP. I give credit to SLP for winning, but the score did not reflect how the game was played. Totino started their back-up goalie, and did play sloppy at times, but they out shot SLP 2 to 1 in the first period and were down 3-0 after one. Totino continued their 2 to 1 shooting ratio and missed 3 break aways in the second period. Totino controlled most of the game by dominating in the corners and around the net. SLP responded by icing the puck on a regular basis and had one player who played very well and had a heck of a shot; SLP's goalie also played very well. In my opinion Totino has more skilled players across the board and more depth and I would have to pick Totino over SLP during the play-offs. Just some views and comments from a neutral party. It was a fun game to watch!

Winning the hockey state title in texas is like winning a gold medal in the Special Olympics. The top 100-120 teams in Minnesota would win the title EASILY in Texas and probably about half of the states JV. First of all its texas so we all know the hockey isn't great there. Second, ALL halfways decent hockey players in Texas play in Midget majors, minors, junior leagues, or AAA teams. They do NOT play high school hockey. The fact that they lost to a hockey team in Texas is embarrassing.

If a weak loss to Texas is all you have as criticism, that is sad. The Panthers played there absolute worst game of the season against them. Not only that, but the teams captain Josh Bevers was out with an injury, and their starting goalie Mike Nelson didn't start, or play at all. I think that the Panthers will continue to turn heads next year and will improve on the success they had this year.

They have two good defensemen...a decent goalie(hot and cold)...and ok forwards coming back...they lost their two top scorers so someone is going to have to step up...the only thing is, they still have South St. Paul, Mahtomedi, Totino-Grace, and St. Thomas in their section so I don't see many heads turning...

Hey JUGlover, I'd say that they had a pretty good season seeing as how they beat your team twice during the regular season. 5-1, and 2-0 if my stats are right.

Apparently being a better team at the beginning of the year is all that matters for you Knights. Maybe you should try winning games during the regular season, and beating teams like Totino Grace. Yeah that was tight. And I bet 7-18 felt pretty tight for you too.

You Knights as in, your team, the Irondale Knights. You said, "ill tell you how it felt for us, it was tight." Which would mean that you were one of those Knights.

spring lake park has some talent, not much, but some. One kid that has not been talked about is Luke Gerding. I think he is the leading point getter returning. I do not see this team going anywhere until there is a big change in the program.... Who knows what will happen with a new AD coming in....

When/Where/Why would they be playing a team from Texas?? That is like playing Rugby, North Dakota. If it was a rodeo or football it would be a different story by why would they even play against a team from Texas?

For many years they would take a bus trip down to Texas and play a few games. Im sure with money running short in the state those trips stopped. Im pretty sure this school from TX is a private school and if they play hockey in TX they more-than-likely have money so they decided to come up here instead of them going down. As far as them losing i know there 3 best forwards didnt play normal shifts because they had TG (NSC/Section) game the next day.
