what about the north teams???

Post by 12umom »

WOW - one of the "teams from the north" not only beat 1 of your coveted "cities" teams but 2 of them!! Hats off to TRF for all their hard work in taking home the consolation championship.

What were you saying Mr. U10 ??????

Lakeville scored three goals in about five minutes and then coasted.

...and Roseau was supposed to be the best team from the North. Why they need to force two lesser teams into the State Tournament mix is bizarre to me. You can't tell me that Eden Prairie or Wayzata weren't more qualifed to be at State.

what is that you say?????

looks like the "lesser team" beat one of the best teams in the state and by the way this is 12U not 10u i think you are on the wrong subject

Anoka/Highland - two fairly even teams, Anoka has some trouble scoring, so edge to Highland

Roseau/Lakeville - No offense or anything, but the two teams from the north have no shot in Grand Rapids unless they spike the water. Roseau beat up a bunch of northern teams up, but when you look at the scores against the metro, they only beat the mediocre teams. Lakeville by 5.

Cottage Grove/Burnsville - Played already, Burnsville won. CG doesn't give up a lot of goals, but guess who scored the most against them all season? Burnsville. Blaze might be dinged up, but I'll take them to edge CG.

Thief River Falls/Evil Empire - Edina, in Running Time. Edina WHITE could beat TRF.

2nd Round: Highland/Lakeville - Again, they already played, Lakeville beat 'em. This might be closer, but Lakeville should win.

Edina/Burnsville - Why should things change now? Edina beats Burnsville, they have all year. Nice draw at State for the Empire, they should waltz to the finals. Did they purposely put themselves in that 3rd seed?

Finals: Lakeville/Cakeeaters - I'd like to say Lakeville will win, they won at Edina's tournament. But Lakeville will have two (slightly) tougher games to get there, so as much as it pains me, I think the Hornets will win.

It's a shame that Eden Prairie, Wayzata and Andover aren't there and those two teams from the North are, but that's just the way the system works.

 when I look at all my info,, The two teams from the north will win 4 games between the two of them. The real shame is that you are looking at old scores and you give the north no credit. I know they will out class any team out there and may even beatup some of your metro teams. You should stay in the 10U area like your name says.
thanks for sticking up for the north. someday our "north" teams will pounce on the "cities" teams when it hurts the most. You are totally right when you say the north will outclass any team. in fact the north brought more fans and showed the most support for their teams.

I believe Thief River Falls was the ONLY team that participated in the State Tournament that did not also have at least one 'B' team. This team was not hand picked from 40-80 girls. We have 16 girls on our team, 2 that qualify for the 10U and 1 first year hockey player. These girls came together at the beginning of the season, worked hard all year and succeeded!

They got to the State Tournament the same way the metro teams did. Through district and region tournaments. Don't discredit them because another team didn't make it.

Our girls love hockey, love their team and can ABSOLUTELY skate with the metro teams. They proved that with their wins over Cottage Grove and Highland!!!

Because it's a STATE tournament!!! If you want to have a 'Best of the Metro Area Tournament', put one together!!

What an incredible weekend in Grad Rapids. Hats off to Jerry, Steve, and the rest of the group from GRHA for hosting such a great tournament. From the wonderful speakers at the banquet to the little details in the locker rooms, they didn’t miss a thing.

To TRF, congratulations, you represented your community with class. It was so nice to see how your whole town got behind the team, from the official city wide send off to the great fans in the stands. It was also very nice to see how Roseau came and sat behind your team during the game against Edina to root you on. Without you and Roseau it wouldn’t be a State Tournament.

To Anoka, you can hold your heads high. You took on two of the top ranked teams in the state and battled well. Be proud of what you accomplished this season.

To Burnsville, you beat a powerhouse in Lakeville and showed the state the depth in District 6

And to Edina, all your hard work and determination paid off, congratulations, you are STATE CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations to ALL the girls who played in the State tournament this weekend, including Lakeville, Highland, Cottage Grove, and Roseau. They all played their hearts out and showed a lot of class. I'm sure they all had the time of their lives.

jollyroger,

Thanks for catching my oversight.

I just commented on the games I saw. I agree, hats off to ALL 8 teams for a great season, qualifying for State, and giving it your all up in Grand Rapids.
