Accountability and Hockey Budget
Is there some sort of accountability / Audit system out there to audit a hockey associations Books? Treasure / president are very quite about showing any one anything. Hockey programs in the State of MN are considered Non-profit correct? fact finding..
If they are a MH associatin they are required to be a non-profit 501c3 or part of a city government.
If they are 501c3 they file a Form 990 with the IRS. Most of the information on a 501c3 is open to the public and there are at least two web-sites that post this information.
Certain associations will be required to prepare an audited finanaicla statement for the MN Attorney General office. Most of this information is available to the public also.
AND a request for this information from the public requires release of such information.
In addition, if you contact your District Director or Mark Elliott of the Minnesota Hockey board at 218-759-9411, they will see that the requested information is released.

It maybe, I would have to see the documentation to know for sure.justhavefun wrote:I know a program who discontinued its 5013c status and joined an group that ties all there youth sports togather. is that proper protocal?
But MH agreement says they have to be 501c3 - the biggest thing is who controls the hockey - it must be a borad elected by membership and if anything is to the contrary something would have to be adjusted.
