My assessments all 8 AA student sections:

EP-had large numbers, but were very quiet. Hardly any chanting. I could only hear the drums in the band.

Hill-good band, but the student section was small, quiet, and oddly distant from what was supposed to be Hill's end of the arena.

Century-not bad, really. Best band too. General lack of things to cheer about, though.

Blaine-terrible coordination--I couldn't tell them apart from any other section. Many left after the first few goals. Disappointing.

Edina-large and a decent amount of chanting, but not outstanding. The game may have had something to do with that.

Moorhead-small, and where was the band?! Went properly crazy when the results became obvious, but otherwise hard to hear. Amusing shouting match with 216. Got some help from DE in the end with an "overrated" chant directed at Edina.

Duluth East-definitely the most active; as a unit they out-chanted several sections combined. I know I'm an alum, but I do not feel it would be homerism to say they were the best of the 8. Kept it up even when things were looking bleak at the end.

CDH-I didn't realize there was a student section until they stood up and cheered for the goals. Some cute signs, but disorganized, no chants, and disappointing.

EP was great for the Blaine game. They had the white out going across three sections and were very loud. Moorhead disappointed me, they didn't even stand up the whole game like EP did and they just said the same thing over and over.

EP was much stronger last night than on Thursday; I was satisfied. Blaine got better as the game went on but was still relatively weak. Moorhead was OK; I especially enjoyed the "Where's Edina?...Mariucci!" chant. They were smallish, but then, they are a northern school with half the enrollment of EP. Like Blaine, Cretin started out pretty badly. The only thing that really got them going were the exchanges with 216.

They were selling EP student tickets all the way to section 218 this morning so it looks like the Eagles will have students 5 sections strong!

It costs a bit more for a non-metro team to send their band and have their entire fan base at the games. Moorhead School District is in a huge budget crunch, dont think they can afford to pay for everything. Hotels, food, travel, time off of work or school, and tickets it adds up.

Cretin - tried but failed miserably to the upper deck.

Eden Prarie - depresses me, they have so many fans but they don't chant at all.

East - wasn't that great in the quarter finals I thought but maybe they were better in the consolation.

Moorhead - is also a little sad but they're better with the upper deck.

Edina - wasn't bad in the quarter finals but not as good as years past plus they have a lot of fans so it should be a bit better.

Century - I thought they were the best out of any team, even when they were down they were still loud, plus they had a large number of people.

Hill - didn't impress me at all, unorganized and small in numbers, plus very quiet

Blaine - wasn't to bad but got pretty quiet when their team was down. It also surprised me that there wasn't that many people from Blaine since it's such a large school I think their best was up in 207 in the corner.

Upper Deck - very good, loud and quick on their feet..haha..we are Jewish that was good! 216 wasn't great they need to recruit or consider joining the upper deck cause they were pretty quiet. Although, I wish they would do the V sign that would be so funny.

Are you joking? East was amazing in the quarters... They had at least 30 different times they chanted, and loud too.

Kudos to EP's student section today. It was really cool! THey filled up three sections and each section was color coordinated. (One was red, one was black and the last was white). It was visually very effective! THey were very loud too. Their chants were always pretty funny and they started the wave a couple times too.

im gonna agree century was def the best they started chanting in the second period of the game before them and got into it with EP and they were not even playing..they came looking for a fight hah.. and they cont to chant until their team was off the ice after the game which is impressive seeing as they got murdered.. i liked that LETS GO BLUE simple but it was cool cause of the hand motions they did all together..

I was at 10 of the 11 AA games these past three days. Here are what I though were the top 3.

3. Duluth East Quarterfinals
2. Moorhead Semifinals - If it weren't EP's strength in numbers, I would say Moorhead was the best.
1. Eden Prairie Finals - But it took being in the Chamionship game for that to come out and also strength in numbers!

I thought the biggest disappontment was Blaine in the third place game. That was my first third place game I ever attended. Maybe students are just too disapponted from the semifinal loss to show up? I don't know. There still should be a lot of pride going for third in the state in my opinion.

I loved the Spuds. Dressed in blaze orange and were vocal. They get it.

You couldn't hear a word the Spuds said on the second level. EP was VERY loud in the championship game and nice color cordination 8)
EP two out of three.
