Almost certainly 8AA, but you never know what the State League will do with the section assignments. Bemidji has been in 8AA and 7AA, but 8AA seems to be a better fit. Hey, I'd love to have them in 7AA. Put Brainerd back there, too. There just isn't enough flannel in this here section.low66 wrote:which section? 8AA? good luck to bemidji next year should be interesting

Not in college anymore.

Check the number of posts I have, that is a good indication of my age.
Old, really old.

Well Mistah hockey, I know what you are going through, welcome in advance.
To the topic at hand, congrats to the Bemidji guys, I have seen a few games this year, and played with some of them at open hockey. It was amazing to see a lot of high school kids at open hockey the times I went. I worked at the senior night when they were at the Glas and I saw a really good hockey team. It will be fun to see them give some of the other Northern AA teams a run for their money.

Good move
Congrats on moveing up, just have to wonder why they didnt say down for afew more years. They were a 3 seed in section 8 this year and got handled by TRF in the semis so it makes me wonder why not build your program up better then make the move up?

They are going to be a better team next year, more experience and only losing 4 seniors (2 goalies, 1 forward and one other who does not play much I think)Congrats on moveing up, just have to wonder why they didnt say down for afew more years. They'll be able to compete with Moorhead and Roseau, Should be fun games to watch!

Re: North AA
Bemidji has been 8AAAAA in football but I understand they will be 7AAAA next year. Not sure what logic was applied to change from section 8 to 7 by the MSHSL but Hockey Section assignments could be interesting...northwoods oldtimer wrote:elliot70 will 7AA faithfull be tasting their favorite frosty brew at Shep's in Brainerd or Corner Bar in Bemidji next season?

Doesnt matter whether your A or AA you still have to have a really good team to get into the state tournament. Warroad may have been the best team in 8 A or AA this year. They won the marriucci conference and their only loss in the section 8A or 8AA was to moorhead at moorhead in overtime. Warroad is in the State final in A and Moorhead could very well be there after tonights semis so up north it does not really seem to matter whether your A or AA but you better have a good team or your not going to have a chance of going anywhere. Good for Bemidji they are going back to where they belong
