I still don't acknowledge that AV won. DE scored.
Lines are going to form early for the session tommorw. If you're trying to buy them at Mariucci, get there early. I'll be there at around 1. The tickets are available at 4 very large public schools so the amount of tickets left is going to be limited. Session #1 at 6 PM is Edina vs Jefferson. Session #2 at 8 PM is Eden Prairie vs Minnetonka.
I called Mariucci today and verified that there is no limit on the amount of tickets one person can purchase. Because tons of tickets will already be gone from the 4 schools, your chances are slim to get tickets if you show up any later than 3.

And second, O'Connor can't be that bad if
a) He won goalie of the year
b) He has 9 shutouts on the year
c) 1.38 GAA, .923 save %
All of you have your own opinions which is fine but i think the stats speak for themselves...
Those stats mean a lot more about Jefferson team D than O'Connor
It says alot about team defense, but it could also be argued that it's a reflection of the lack of competition they've played.
Breck outscored its conference opponents this year by a margin of 117 - 10. Does that mean their goalie is awesome? No.. It just means their conference schedule is weak.

Sorry for the double post.
Is the lake that weak? They could have 4 of the 8 state teams this year. It was just down compared to previous years but it was not weak there is always competition.

Was just using that to show that you can't really say a whole lot about how good a goalie is from numbers lika GAA.
Probably was a bad comparison because the lake conference is usually pretty darn competitive.
Here's a little more of a hypothetical analogy. Say that the red wings play against the minneapolis washburn b squirts. But the red wings have my 2 year old sen in net.
The redwings would win like 8923842984923 to 0. Does that mean my two year old son is awesome at goalie because he posted a 0.00 GAA? probably not.

I think tickets are in limited amounts at the schools. But since there's no limit on the amount of tickets you can buy at mariucci, it will sell out in the first half hour of public sales if not sooner.

or how about this analogy: a top defense in the state plays in one of the top conferences in the state, and their goalie plays out of his mind for most of the season, in turn outscoring their opponents by an absurd amount. that sounds like a better one.
and for all you jokester lake conference haters out there.... 4 lake teams in section finals. and i'd just like to point out that jefferson is 6-1 against those teams

I disagree the Hornets have something to prove, and that is that they can win the state tournament
That group of seniors have not wont won it yet and this is obviously their last chance
I think you may have missed O-townClown's sarcasm. He's an Edina guy and is well aware of the fact that Edina wants a State Championship badly this year!! I think you're right though 51 - Edina has the experience and depth and should take this one but I doubt Jefferson will give it up easily. Good luck to both teams - I'm sure it will be a great game.
This will be a great game. Both teams will give it their all. Jefferson has some players on Junior gold (seniors) that desire to be on the team. Cameron and Lindholm both could have given the team some added depth.
I agree, I think EP cut about 10 seniors that played either JV and some on the varsity roster. Depth may come into play. Truthfully, you win with senior leadership. The EP team and Jefferson team are playing very well with some of this senior leadership, but put a lot of pressure on their existing seniors. It would be nice to have a solid senior goalie at this point.

big is the key word there, i think the size and strength of edinas forwards will give jefferson trouble. Some of jeffersons d are rather small and they may lack the strength to match up with edinas forwards.
The Olympic size ice surface should help Jefferson keep it further away from the net and give them more room to skate it out of the zone. This could help offset one of Edina's key strengths: being able to score in close quarters right around the goal crease.
Here it is again -- the old "the bigger ice surface is a disadvantage for Edina" argument. I never bought it in the past, and I don't buy it now.
The Olympic size sheet favors teams that are fast and can play the possession game. I am more familiar with Edina than Jefferson, but I imagine these qualities apply to both teams. I have a hard time believing it is more true of Jefferson than Edina.
Edina does a good job of keeping a wide wing when they break out their zone to create a one on one with the oppositions defensivemen. Can they use this to their advantage.
I'll be on the road from about 5-7:30 PM tomorrow night, and was wondering if anyone knows if this game is on the radio? I know it's streaming live at myfoxlive and MSBN will have audio on their website but I won't have access to either until around 8.

If both teams bring their A game, I'd go with Edina by 1 or maybe 2 w/ EN. When they put it all together, they are virtually unbeatable. However, it doesn't seem like they have had a lot of games like that this year. Also, I suspect the anticipation and excitement will lead to enough nervousness on both sides that it will be extremely difficult for either team to be at their absolute best. If it gets to one team more than the other, then that will be the deciding factor right there, I think. But in fact, I think these are two excellent teams who will both probably get a bit over-excited but still bring a high level of play to tonight's game. And if that's the case, then I see it as anyone's game.
Does anyone else feel like this one just seems destined to be another section final overtime classic? Feels that way to me.

well said. look o'conner is a decent goalie, but his defense is stacked and only allows weak shots that dont have high chances. and eden prarie really showed him the true lake conference, because it is a weak year with only lakeville north, ep, and jefferson having good years
