A new page is being turned in section 7AA. Elk River is back, settled in, and has two previous year's losses to avenge. But, they have yet to play Duluth East [in the post season] since their most recent move to 7AA, so it should be interesting.
The Greyhounds beat the Elks earlier this year 5-3, I believe that game was in Elk River? Maybe not, I don't know. But in my opinion, the team who won the first game is who has the most to lose.
Duluth East fresh off a near upset by Forest Lake, the Elks off a 6-1 thrashing of the Lumberjacks.
I think both teams proved they can hang with the best teams in the state over the regular season and whoever wins has a good chance to do some damage at state.
But, I shall predict Elk River returns to state for the first time since being moved out of section 4AA. This will be a very fun tilt.

Summary for the Jan. 10 game between these two at the Heritage Center:
http://www.pointstreak.com/prostats/box ... eid=884982
It should be noted that 3 important East players sat out the first period of this game for minor team rule violations. The shot counts in the next two are rather telling.
That said, I do think this will be a close game. It's the section championship, and everything will be on the line. It'll be a great night of hockey at the DECC.

It's .920 after today's game, believe it or not.mj79 wrote:time for cooper to stand on his head.... just can believe the shot stats i see with east vs opponents 30, 40, 50 to on avg 10, maybe 20.....
whats this kids save % .700???
has anyone actually outshot east this year??
Minnetonka outshot East 22-21 in a 2-0 East win,
Cenetennial outshot East 35-32 in a 2-2 tie,
Moorhead outshot East 37-26 in a 4-0 East win,
and the shots were dead even at 25 in East's 5-3 loss to Blaine.
These were all relatively early in the season, though. Since the Blaine game on Jan. 6, no team has come closer than within 10 shots of East.

East 5
ER 1
Too much horsepower for the Elks, unless Randolph gets outcoached. It could happen - typical one-dimensional East strategy almost cost them today. The development of a Plan B for East would be very useful - it's surprising how certain teams weaker than the hounds can play so well against them...

Nah, you didn't come across like an ass. Until I looked it up last week myself, I wouldn't have believed his saves percentage was over .900. Not because he was letting in many goals, but because East was allowing so few shots.mj79 wrote:wow .. thanks guys lol...
Didnt mean to come off too much of an ass but it just seemed hes letting in quite a bit on a little amount of shots.. thank god for the beginning of the season
In the end, I'll take a low GAA over a high saves percentage, anyway.

Pardon me for not really knowing how it works, but is the 7AA final the only game that will be played at the D.E.C.C. that night? I suppose that's the only thing that makes sense...who else would play there? 8AA? I figured I'd ask...Duluth 4 wrote:I'll take the Hounds 4-2 in a tight one. 8AA is played at the mini-Ralph in TRF. The only other upcoming game at the DECC is Wednesday night's 7A final.City of Compton wrote:Pardon me for not really knowing how it works, but is the 7AA final the only game that will be played at the D.E.C.C. that night? East played three regular season games at the DECC this season. Yep, big advantage there.youngblood08 wrote:Why do all 7AA finals have to be played at that crap-hole DECC?
How many other teams get "Home-Ice advantage" like this through the playoffs?

Actually, I think they wanted to book the St. Crotch Valley Rec Center. Knowing what gracious hosts they'd find down there, y'know.

The Elks will win a nail biter.
Franke will come up big and Sarsland will have the Elks playing a solid, physical hockey game.
A lot of people on here are saying the Elks played "slow" hockey against CEC.... they supposedly played poorly and won 6-1, I'd love to see what they do playing good hockey!
Lets see the Elks win the section, have an uproar from the north so they'll finally move the Elks back down to the Metro sections where they belong.
3-2 Elks.
