Snow storm???

Post by PoNd HocKey ChAmP67 »

Snow is expected in the metro area starting tommorow morning. like 6-8 inches. would this postpone a lot of games for tommorow?

If I remember correctly, because these are section tournaments, they are handled by the MSHSL and not the schools themselves. So it is their call whether or not the games are on. I remember a couple years ago there was huge storm when Wayzata was playing a section game at the Champlin Arena and the games went off without a hitch. I did almost die on the way home though.
I get older they stay the same age, alright alright

Was it a good enough game to be worth it??

Haha not really. It was worth it to whip some killer donuts in the school parking lot on the way back.

The league office doesn't make the decisions on postponing... it is up to each tournament manager, who is assigned by the section committee.

I would check the MSHSL links to the different section tournaments. go to mshsl.org, pick boys hockey from the pulldown menu and then scroll down to the different section tournament brackets. I would hope if they postpone a game, they would update the brackets ASAP with the correct date and time.

It would be a tough call for some of these sections to postone tonight. A lot of sections have quarterfinals tonight and semifinals on Saturday. It would be tough to have to play back-to-back games.

They do it in the state tournament.

Would you really want your child getting on that bus from Mankato to Albert Lee today/tonight? Or La Crescent to New Prague, Faribault to Rochester, etc. It's just a game. It can wait 24 hours.

That is such a good call! No point in risking anything that doesn't need to be risked.

I agree that there is not reason to risk anything...but most of these games are at 7pm...it's not like the teams need to rush to get there for the JV games.

If drivers drive cautiously all people should be able to get to their games safely and on time.

However, if there are games at 5pm or whatever and there would be a rush...don't play 'em. They can wait.

From Winona: "The boys hockey game tonight is still in question"

Asomeone else posted the section determines if the games go on or not, the individual schools can say it's unsafe to travel though. A few years ago the 1AA semifinals were to take place on Saturday in Rochester and 3 of the 4 schools were from Rochester, the fourth Lakeville had alreadt left to come down. The section postponed the games and had to turn the Lakeville bus around so what goes into it sometimes is beyond me.

As for the snow, Rochester cancelled school today and as of now, 11:08, we have yet to see a drop of rain or a snowflake.

*edit* The Big Nine schedule shows cancellations and some make up dates for all sports except hockey which are still on, the Hiawatha Valley schedule (Dodge County, La Crescent, and Lourdes) shows the same thing

I think they are going to make the call within the next hour for the scheduled hockey games.

Denfeld vs Proctor

Post by Game Misconduct »

Howie Hanson is reporting in his blog that the Duluth denfeld vs proctor game has been moved to tomorow. Can anyone confirm???

If this is true, I will say I am embarrased to admit I'm from duluth. a few inches of snow and they cancel a game. Should rbe enamed duluth, Florida.

Just confirmed...no games tonight in sec 5a

Here are the links to the new brackets and times for Section 1A and 1AA

Century Winona and Mayo Dodge County playing earlier Friday as winners play the 11:30 Am game on Saturday

Lourdes vs Faribault is now the late game 7:30 PM Graham..
as the winner will play the late game on Saturday night I imagine...

Eagles better be on the alert for those young Falcons.

Class A time changes for Friday night games.

It has nothing to do with Duluth or Hermantown. I guess there was no school today in Mora or St Cloud so they couldn't play. So in fairness they cancelled all 5A games so some didn't have a day off and others have to play back to back. Now everyone plays back to back. Fair call in my opinion.
